Re: little optimistic???

Absolutely! Commodore failed for a whole bunch of reasons (corporate greed, mismanagement, you name it) but one of the most annoying ones was its habit of resting on its laurels - the amazing (for the time) Original Chipset (OCS) was only slightly improved with the Enhanced Chipset (ECS); the Advanc...

Re: little optimistic???

From my perspective the Amiga 4000 is more like a PC than a micro because of the things you can do on a good one, like encoding MP3s, browsing the Web or watching DVDs. Music and video processing is also possible and so in themselves, these activities can be achieved for way less money with a beige...

Re: little optimistic???

It's reminiscent of the Amiga 4000. I'm not holding this to ridicule or anything but these command a lot: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/amiga-a4000/183057905287?hash=item2a9f19f687:g:JBoAAOSwMl9aeO8U For that kind of money, I don't see the point. The original Archimedes, Atari ST or Amiga computers we...

Re: Today I received.....

The 486SLC is a very cool piece of hardware :) It's what Aleph1 used for the 2nd generation PC podules for Archimedes, at 25MHz and (using SLC2) 50MHz. Plus 387 FPU socket, parallel, serial, FDC, IDE, one SIMM slot (max 16MB) - but no option for dedicated graphics. What's on the Vortex aside from t...

My Amiga 4000 has seen some significant upgrades: image.png The SD card now runs from an Acard AEC-7720UW SCSI to ide bridge into a CyberSCSI module on the accelerator card. Cars and Organs

Which one, trixster? Elise, I'll wager. Well, I miss mine too, but the Elan Plus 2 is not a substitute. It's a solid car but needs "stuff" doing to it so that it doesn't feel fragile. Yes, I had a lovely Elise for about 5 years but reality called and I sold it to buy the house :( IMG_2111...

Re: Quest to become ELITE!

Arrgh! I thought I'd boot up TubeElite this morning for a quick blast but it seems like the disk file on my mmc with my Elite save has become corrupt somehow. When I try and cat the disc the machine seems to stop. All progress seemingly lost :( Is there a way to fix the ssd or salvage data from it? ...

Re: BBC Elite Which is the best version? Or do they differ?

Neither the master nor tube versions offer any extra missions over the standard disk version. I would prefer the tube version over the master due to its extra speed and that it doesn't slow nearly as much when there's lots happening. A-Elite is the best of the lot and it too detects a tube and speed...

Re: WE 32K RAM Card Repair

That's similar to what I've done. I've insulated the topside of the WE card and it lays over the ram. This allows for a short cable run from the 6502 socket to the WE card.

Hi guys, I finally tried setting up the beedsid that came with my Master. It needed a new 8580 and a 34 pin idc to daisychain the beebsid ahead of the datacentre. Lk2 is south for a 9v SID. Re: Pi-based Co-Pro on the cheap - 100MHz 6502 for £10? (now 274MHz)

Hi guys, I had some issues getting my Pi2 running alongside a WE Ram card. With an approx 15cm cable from Tube to gpio I found I had to halve the cable length from the 6502 socket to the socket on the WE card. Any longer cable length seemed to stop things working. With that cable length I also found...
