Not sure how relevant it is to the electron but someone has just done an awesome job of scanning this book -

Re: Book: Assembly Language Programming for the BBC Micro

Wow! I kind of suspected a lot of work had gone into this having looked at the PDF and compared it to my original book.
Well worth the effort I would say - it's a good book. =D>

Re: Book: Assembly Language Programming for the BBC Micro

Just wondering what you use to get these results? I have a load of Timex Sinclair 1500 Technical Literacy Series manuals to scan and currently can only produce a jpg or similar!

Many thanks for any info

Re: Using BBC BASIC to teach programming concepts in 2017

Like you say, a more flexible and approachable language like BBC BASIC may need a comeback, especially as system slowdown with a high-level language is no longer a strict concern. As a slight aside many developers I have worked with seem to have taken the idea that system slow down is not a concern...

Re: Today I received.....

I would not build it. My first computer was a ZX81 in kit form. It took me 3 hours to build - so that is all the gratification you'll get for the huge loss in value that building it would entail. On the other hand: we all prefer retro computers to be used instead of languishing in some "collec...

I wondered if this one would divide opinion. I can understand the desires for keeping an unbuilt kit as just that but then what do you do with it? Quite likely although it looks to be intact. I will probably go with new caps and a modern power reg as well. And a ZX8-CCB composite mod... Maybe 16k of on board RAM :D

I think I paid about £20 to have Mark do a PSU for me. Obviously the p&p from where you are will put that up a bit.

Re: BBC Model B takes up smoking

Ah magic smoke! From the PSU? These are famous for capacitors failing. Should be an easy fix or various people can fix it for you - I send mine to Mark at Retroclinic.

It shouldn't have caused any permanent damage. I bought one that had done similar and it is fine.

RomIt application notes and appendix VI

Hi all

I got a copy of the above (see photo below) in with some other stuff. If anybody wants them they are free (p&p aside) to a good home. Might be useful if it completes the instructions set I guess?

I can also scan them if they are not already done?

Some q-tips, a bottle of IPA (iso-propyl-alochol, not the horrid over flavoured hipster beer) and a small screwdriver help.
