Re: The Darkness of Raven Wood

 =D> =D> :D Hey guys..... OMG!!! You're still working on Raven Wood?!? This is amazing. I never realized you were all so passionate about it. This is awesome. It was just a hobby project to me and you guys have taken it and run... I can't believe you got it all working off physical media. Bri...

:D YAY it looks awesome. If this was released back in the day.... it would be a classic I reckon!
Great work. I'm gonna have to give it a proper go now.

Re: any interest in a character display with sprites?

Just tried the demo..... niiice. They are running around pretty quickly I like it. Just what I'd want. I think to make it useful for people like me (no machine code experience) is a very simple and detailed (step by step) documentation on how this all works, what I need to do to get my software to t...

Re: any interest in a character display with sprites?

Yes there would be interest.... definitely. :D As Simonsideburns mentions AGD is a great piece of software and I've been able to write 2 games so far. 1 is finished and can be found on my website... http://johnblythe5.wixsite.com/rucksackgames/foggy http://i.imgur.com/ctuDdQx.png This is the kind of...

Re: The Darkness of Raven Wood

I haven't forgotten Lurkio. Just been real busy. I'm currently putting the finishing touches to another game for the *whispers* ZX Spectrum (Arcade Adventure - Foggy's Quest). Then I'll return to the BBC/Electron for another fun little project. I'll hopefully get around to doing a little writ...

Yeah on the Electron I used it with GoSDC and it worked fine. It definitely won't work with the Tape system. :)

Re: New Acorn 8bit? Should there be one?

As for actual interest, I get what people are saying. That could be the thing that curbs development. The NEXT has created a lot of interest and could spell a new time of bedroom coders producing some nice 8bit stylee games. Certainly with some new Game Creating software starting to appear such as J...

Re: New Acorn 8bit? Should there be one?

The point is its an 8 bit machine. The ethos would have to be in keeping with that. The Master is a good approach. A machine that runs BBC Basic, 512k ram to keep the built in limitations. Keep the expandable rom sockets and interfaces if possible. But like the NEXT introduce more colours to the mac...

New Acorn 8bit? Should there be one?

I was reading about the new ZX Spectrum Next 8bit coming soon. Which I'm fully up for getting. It looks sexy as heck. :-) Surely there must be appetite for a new 8bit Acorn machine? I mean the Master was pretty good, may be something along those lines, but with added sprite handling and screen modes...

Re: The BBC Micro In Pixels

Make sure there are plenty of great screenshots, maybe some BBC/ELK compare shots, features on the games (Elite could be a book on its own LOL) REVs, Repton, Superior Software, Peter Johnson, the Sinclair rivals, the BBC contract, famous coders, iconic games, game maps, sprite pages, iconic Box Art?...

Awesome! Just had a quick play and the excellent graphics load really quickly which is brilliant for playability. Now get cracking on Foggy as I can't wait to play your Hobbit game later on in the year. Thanks, yeah I wanted to have a go at FOGGY as I'm using a nice little Construction set of tools...

I love the art style, still haven't got very far in the game, but further than I did with twin kingdom valley! Well done for sticking with it and for the final tidy up, great job :) Back atcha. Hi guys, just to say a massive, massive thankyou to Lurkio for working with me to finish The Darkness of Raven Wood. That's awesome I'm back home tomorrow and I'll have a proper look at it. Very impressive. Never thought you'd get that onto a single SSD. Part 2 is where the memory usage is the tightest. Be interesting to see if this fits into the standard 32k. Great work you guys.... 8) very cool.

Re: New Adventures?

No problem Lurkio. I'm not precious about it. It's just a BASIC prog. I would be a bit miffed if it got hacked to be easier or to change the game play etc. That would be a bit rude in my book. ;-) But if you can get a nice solution for a Master version working, then fair play. :-) and I'd be happy t...

Re: New Adventures? - Doesn't work on a Master 128

I tried it on a real Master 128 with a double sided drive but it doesn't work. It also doesn't work in B-em when set to be a Master 128. The first two menus appear but the ingame screen in black That specific problem can be fixed if you replace line 380 in the BASIC program $.RW -- 380IFLC%<>0ANDLC...

Re: New Adventures?

The Master-incompatibility may be partly due to the Slim Chars code, which is taken from pages 60 and 61 here but isn't compatible with the Master. Here's a Master-only version of Robin Nixon's Slim Characters program: SlimChars.ssd.zip The original Elk/ModelB version of the program stored the slim...
