Tips for using TERMINAL rom: Shift F1 - Bring up command prompt. Ok what it does is this testrom.JPG Then after a short while the CPU hangs completely with no SYNC, nothing. testrom2.JPG Tricky, does your test rom write to any of the Beeb's hardware registers, or does it launch immediately into copying RAM around, using the default mode that the display IC starts...

I think what I'll do next is capture operation with tricky's ROM to see if it's executing continuously or hanging.

Re: BBC B+ Repair log

I forget the details about Tricky's test ROM. But keep in mind, the address decoding logic on the board decides where in the CPU memory map the ROM appears. So in the EPROM (assuming a 27128 / 27C128) chip is used, the code should start at ROM address 0000 and go all the way to the end (so that the...

ok - interesting.

Re: Reviving a Master

If you have to desolder the 6522, I'd recommend preheating the board with a hair dryer/hot air station and using good quality 2mm wide desoldering braid, surface mount rework flux and an iron at a hot temperature - i use my cheapo variable iron at 3/4 temperature - with a wide chisel bit. You'll hav...

Re: PiTubeDirect signalconverter for BBC Micro

Access to the Pi (and the wifi, web, storage etc) would be a *TERMINAL away. So I can develop for Pi side and BBC side at the same keyboard/monitor. Just to be clear - you won't, I think, get anywhere trying to talk to the pi over serial when it's acting as a copro. You'd need to boot it into a ful...

Re: Microvitec Cub 1431 repair

A few problems have occurred with the monitor so far
Brightness has gone funny - I'm hoping its a bad pot or something... Switches on bright but then fades and I have to turn it up at the back. Plus the brightness response isn't linear.
Monitor starts to lose focus after being on for a very long time.

I'm mobile, so don't have a schematic to hand, let alone the chance to look in mine, but if there are other electrolytic caps, it would be a good idea to renew those as well  Mark Ok thanks, I never did find one for S3.
