Re: A3010: Bodge wires

Not sure. Just did an A3000 refurb which had pretty bad battery damage but I think it is a totally different layout to an A3010? Maybe you could get a clue where it came off by seeing if the wire left any solder/indent on what it used to be connected to, combined with following the lay of the wire? ...

Re: Gotek Working on A3000 :))

Nice! Are you using Flashfloppy or the £10 Hxc2001 firmware? I don't know if the closed-source Hxc firmware that I downloaded supports OLED but I ordered the board anyway  . Good work!

Gotek Working on A3000 :))

Finally got it going. :D Here are a few pointers for anyone else who may be interested: No mods needed to case [-X . Perfect fit. :D Just a little hand drill to 2.5 or 3mm in the holes is the Gotek case to fit the existing drive bolts. Gotek needs flashing with a usb to serial programmer in 3v3 mode...

Lol, I haven't dared touch any jumpers, that may help explain my scart picture being shoved to the right

Happy to help mate. I couldn't see any more jumpers but if you know of any others then I can have a look.

Re: Acorn 3000 4mb Ram Expansion

Here are pics of all the links I can see. In addition, the jumper on the ram board is set to 4mb. Good luck. I am still having a nightmare with the Gotek drive on the Arch but a £14, issue 2 Electron off EBay turned up yesterday and is going fine. Heatsink on the ULA and a retrobrite and it will be ...

Re: Acorn 3000 4mb Ram Expansion

There is a jumper on the ram board. 2 or 4MB. I left it at 4. Everything else on the mainboard was just left as it was. The machine did have a 2mb board in it before so maybe that helped. Anyway, I just posted the other board back so you should have it tomorrow or Friday. First Class, Signed for. Th...

Thanks. The delete key is the one key I can't get working on my refurbished A3000 and I am trying to limit the number of times that I detach and re-attach the ribbon cables  I used the r key on my other roms just fine. Why would these roms shut the computer down so suddenly? Is it trying to pr...

MOODY EBAY ROMS?

Hi All, Just a quick one. Bought these off Ebay for about £15. They were sold as 'new and unopened'. Not sure about that given the state of the pins (very dull with marks on  ). Do they look genuine to those in the know? They were sold as RISCOS 3.11. When I tried them in my A3000, it got as ...

Re: Open source firmware for Gotek floppy emulator released

Hi, Do you have that working on an Archimedes by any chance? Do you know if is it the same/better/worse than the hxc2001 firmware? Sorry for all the questions but I have 3 Goteks in total. One is flashed to hxc2001 (cost £10 online for the firmware) and is working well in an Atari 1024STF. The other...

Re: Acorn A3000 Address exception on boot

If it helps, I made a cheap scart cable from info here:

viewtopic.php?t=3750

It works well but I probably have to change a jumper or something as the whole picture is shifted to the right a bit on my lcd tv when compared to composite video out.

Acorn 3000 4mb Ram Expansion

Hi All, My A3000 currently has a 2mb ram module in it. The machine posts as 2mb so not sure if there is on onboard ram in addition to the module or not  Anyway, I am looking to upgrade it to 4mb (mostly so I can run ADFFS) I can't find anything on Ebay. Re: BBC Model B takes up smoking

Hi. I made a video a while back showing how to replace the caps if you are feeling brave. The biggest faff is getting the PSU board out of the housing. The kits are widely available and usually include the 3 capacitors and a couple of cable ties. They are cheap. I am not sure if there are any bleede...

Thanks Mark. Yup the speaker is connected and -5v present. I even swapped out and socketed IC17 (LM324) as I read it can cause issues.
