Great clips Ed.

I guess the other cheese wedge possibility could be the IEEE488 - I think it was available before the 32016 but am not absolutely sure.

That seems odd. I could swear you could get different kinds of weapons, but maybe I'm remembering things incorrectly. I remember this as I bought the original on tape BITD.

Seems the Commando arcade game was called "Space Invasion" (with different sprites) in some countries as shooting aliens was thought to be less violent than shooting enemy soldiers...

If you can get to the desktop and have a way of getting files onto the machine (e.g. CD-ROM), then the files you need should be here.

You could change every colour in that game to black, and it'd be no less playable. Yeah, it's dreadful :D In looking for a clue about the weapons, I came across an Acorn User review that called it one of the worst games ever on the Beeb! The Micro User was far more positive  EDIT: Should hav...

I was playing with creating a new colour scheme for Green Beret last night because our eldest has suddenly become fascinated with my VIdeoNuLA boards and wanted to have a go at improving an existing game. Here's the result so far: gb.jpg I found a poke that let me advance through all the levels so pl...

Re: RiscPC Second CPU slot ARM possible?

I think I read somewhere that the two processor slots are electrically identical so one of the CPU cards needs arbitration logic to allow more than one to run side-by-side. The x86 cards have this logic but the ARM ones don't :( Somewhere, I have an "ARM Switcher" which allowed two ARM car...

Re: Is there a list of games that use co-pros?

In the January 1985 edition of The Micro User, Peter Johnson mentions a rumour of Acornsoft having a quicker version of "Frogger"/Hopper running on the 6502 co-pro. As I've said before, I think there's loads of potential for writing/porting games to the Pi co-pro. I've got loads of Spectru...

Re: Time for Zarch .... on the beeb?!

I thought about it for a while as I think you could do something reasonable with the Pi co-pro but came to the conclusion that it's a bit beyond me! I'd have given it a go if I could have found code for a C version but I only ever found one in Blitz Basic and I have no experience in that. However, I...

Re: Master level shifter for PiTube Direct won't fit with VideoNuLA

Is there any advantage having it, internally? I wouldn't say so. You could say one advantage is that the internal co-pro is safely tucked inside the machine but conversely it's harder to share between machines (and won't work with a B/B+ without the rare co-pro adapter). I only bought the internal ...

I've generated a BoM from Eagle and have identified suppliers for all the parts. However it works out just short of £20 without the SID :(

If anyone is able to source the parts for less, that would be good!

I still have some bare PCBs left too...

Re: Master level shifter for PiTube Direct won't fit with VideoNuLA

As Rob has confirmed that VideoNula will fit under a ReCo I might just have to buy one for the Master :) I've now got my VideoNuLA sitting under an internal Pi Co-pro in my main M128 using some Arduino stacking headers. The ReCo6502 is a great bit of kit but I tend to use the Pi Co-pro more as bein...

I've just got hold of an Aries B488 interface. Don't know if it's working yet as I've not got any software for it.

From the Acorn User ads I've found, the software apparently came on disk rather ROM - does anyone have a copy?

Thanks,

Re: PAL Decoding

I'm happy to give it a go - I've got pretty good at removing chips without damaging them. There's always the issue that the PALs might be the reason the board isn't working but that'll hopefully show up when I get some equations out of them. I also think it's more likely that the fault is down to ba...

Re: BBC Micro cut-out space on left hand side of keyboard

I think the price was the big factor when it came out and then Superior's Speech, which I think sold well, killed it off. If you look at the speech synthesis module for the TI99/4a (which is basically the same piece of kit), it seems to have been very popular - loads of TI99/4a bundles on eBay have ...

Re: Master level shifter for PiTube Direct won't fit with VideoNuLA

Just had a quick look at fitting some Arduino stacking headers that I bought ages ago. They give enough clearance to allow the VideoNuLA to be fitted under the internal Pi co-pro (with the short headers). It'll need a couple of the 12-pin variants to make the best connection. However, I don't know w...
