@steve3000

Or go to http://www.amazon.co.uk and get a Groov-e Retro Series Shoebox Cassette Player and Recorder with Ear, Mic and REM sockets for £24.99

I know which of the two I'd rather have by the side of my Beeb ... and it's definitely NOT the 4d-pi-Shop one from fleabay.

Re: Maplin Electronics in administration

What's going to happen to any pensions taken out by the workers, I wonder. I think Maplin had a pension scheme. The creditors will always get paid first, the staff will just get the table crumbs if there's anything left. The company pension scheme will be automatically frozen by the administrators ...

Try following this guy's cleaning regime with a faulty 32x. It may be something as simple as crud and build-up in the cartridge slot that needs removing.

Re: BBC Micro Monitor Stand (photo inside)

Watford Electronics made one like that back in the day. You might find one on fleabay if you are lucky, or if somebody has one here they are not using.

Anyone have access to a press brake or other sheet metal bending facilities?

See page 10 of the attached .pdf file.

The 170 kB disc is split into 683 sectors on 35 tracks, each of the sectors holding 256 bytes. However, one track is reserved by DOS for directory and file allocation information (the BAM, block availability map).

Re: High score challenge rules discussion.

Maybe it would be simpler to state the individual rules for each game as we go. Or have a generic set of rules that are absolute, but certain challenges allow for extra's like autofire Key re-mapping should be allowed for games running under emulation though, as some games use Caps Lock and CTRL for...
