Re: Wanted = Emperor inlay info

I found a description of the game in Acorn User 17 (December 1983) but not much else. Reprinted here ... Hope it helps! EMPEROR The time of this wargame is the first four centuries AD. The player takes the part of the Emperor and he must pit his wits and forces against invading barbarians, rebelliou...

Re: High score challenge rules discussion.

Maybe it would be simpler to state the individual rules for each game as we go. Or have a generic set of rules that are absolute, but certain challenges allow for extra's like autofire Key re-mapping should be allowed for games running under emulation though, as some games use Caps Lock and CTRL for...

A Turbografx 16 console and Everdrive SD interface. As I have no TV's in the house that uses the old UK rooftop aerial connectors, a conversion to scart was in order. A well cared for Sega Dreamcast console which now has had both the tri-LED and region free mod's done on it. Also replaced the solder...

Has anyone been following the 'Brand New & Sealed Ultimate' games auctions? That looks more like a home cellophane wrap attempt than a professional job IMHO. EDIT: I don't recall ever having gold tape around any of my Ultimate games when purchased back in the 80's. They were all sealed in a thi...

Re: C64 jiffyDOS & SD2IEC

When it comes to JiffyDOS, there are so many options, you should open the case of your commie and look to see if the chips is socketed or not. Most breadbin C64's had all their chips in sockets where-as most C64c's had chips directly soldered to the board. Once that is ascertained, simply match the ...

Re: 2nd SATA hard drive??

The chances are that only the internal primary SATA port is actually set to auto configure as a HD in the BIOS. The CD drive you borrowed the cables and SATA port must already be configured as a CD/DVD drive in the BIOS and it needs to be changed. I would suggest checking the BIOS settings and ensur...

Apparently mosquitoes hate lemon eucalyptus oil and won't go anywhere near it. As stated by RobGT earlier in the thread in regards to his wife using Vicks Vapour Rub to keep the little so & so's at bay, guess what it contains??? Yep, lemon eucalyptus oil So perhaps there's your solution ... grow...

Re: British Computers: Power Connector Fuses - Values?

Who can list all the reasons these are fake? Genuine fuses have some form of filler material such as sand in the main fuse body to help stop a fuse exploding and causing more damage. Gaps between the metal endcap and the body are a dead giveaway too. Fuse wire should not be poking out of the endcap...

Best to remove the keys and place them into a tub of retrobrite solution and weigh them down a little so they are fully immersed.

Windows 7 rules here. I refuse to migrate to Windows 10 with all it's spying and information it collects and sends to Microsoft.

I know you can disable the built-in spyiware but that's not the point. It shouldn't be there in the first place.

Stick to fluorescent tubes. Tried and tested, good results - you can't go wrong with them.

Re: Retr0brite problems

UV eraser lights have wavelengths shorter than 400 nanometres. Sunlight is usually defined as having wavelengths in the range of 400–700 nanometres (nm). It's been widely reported that UV Eprom eraser lights just aren't strong enough to kickstart the Retrobright process. Recommended to get a cheap t...

sd2iec loads cracked games, and nothing else. Speaking from experience, my sd2iec has handled any D64, D81, D71, M2I images as well as PRG's that I care to throw at it. Your comment about it loading cracked games only is incorrect. The only thing an sd2iec does not do well is True Drive Emulation, ...

Re: Commodore 64

Look for a C64c instead of the usual "breadbin" model. They are a lot cheaper to buy.

I personally wouldn't pay any more than £45 for a basic setup, then add on the cost of the sd2iec and jiffyDOS or Fastload.

Re: Commodore 64

If you are considering an sd2iec C64 setup then I would recommend an Epyx Fastload cartridge which puts loading speeds on par with JiffyDOS in a simple plug-in solution. https://thumb.ibb.co/nwxo9a/wp_20170508_22_29_43_rich_with_epyx_label_cut_1280.jpg https://www.thefuturewas8bit.com/shop/commodore...
