I've just gone thru the box of discs and found a few that say 40t and tried to load a program and it worked It seems I was trying to load a program on a 80t disc with a 40t drive which is a no go It seems ok now I'm now looking for a 40/80t drive on eBay . The beeb boots up with

BBC Computer 32K
Smart SPI
BASIC

my beeb has a side ways ZIF socket and I can boot into DFS and Watford electronics DFS but the drive doesn't work in Watford DFS??

If I do a *disc on the Smart SPI the drive does the same

What does the *co command do? ill try that in a bit on my beeb ill also look on the discs and see what the stickers say

Think its 40 track drive here is a few pictures. its been ages since I've had 5.25 discs nearly 20 years ill look on the discs to see if the discs say 40 or 80 track

I removed the chip and reseated it reconnected the cable to the keyboard and BUP BEEP ! its alive . I'll check for a dry joint on the keyboard connector may be just need a blob of solder on each pin of the keyboard connector ?

Is it best to take the board out and test the keyboard pins with a continuity checker?

I watched the demo hope mine can do that .
A few keys on my beeb don't work so they are in need of repair until they have been fixed I can't really have a play with rom.
Hope I can change all the text then I could use it as a intro to my gaming channel

I got a ash tray zif socket for my bbc I've installed it and it seems to be a bit of a hit and miss. I went over to eBay and got some G roms with games on them. I'll squirt the keys with switch cleaner and play track and field with them .

As for the power supply cable I'll try the cable tie suggestion (never thought of that )

Hello all I got a bbc with 5 roms fitted and a CF adaptor Ive transfered some programs across to the beeb and it sort of works. CF files help needed please

Ok here goes i finally got my ADFS program registered after 5 emails with different codes anyway its working now

All i need to do now is run the CF files in dos but they say to CANNOT BE RUN IN DOS MODE (I am using dosbox)

Any ideas?

I managed to get it across its the same as the window$ version just drag and drop only thing i can't do is save. Iam waiting for REG code. Also looked at CFBACKUP and CFRESTORE it says in the dos box this program cannot be run in dos mode

Ive turned on my mac and downloaded DFS/ADFS programs installed them Ive opened the program and sent the £5 reg free Ive opened a .dsd in DFS explorer then drag all files from one window to another but it wont let me! I highlight all the files and drag and drop but nothing happens! Where am i going ...

I'm gonna try it tonight hope the programs work on leopard if not will try thru wine on ubuntu if not will boot the laptop up and use it to transfer images to the beeb

Yes i have dosbox for os x also have a old XP laptop should i use that?
I saw a program called omi floppy saying to do something with the floppy drive but it has no floppy could i use a USB floppy?

If i can't use that will have to look out for a serial cable to transfer images to the beeb for my mac
