Re: Where to start resurrecting a RiscPC 700

Don't worry about the mini vacuum :D just wash it all off with water when you wash the vinegar off. Don't forget to remove all things that can be removed first (ie simms, ROMs etc)

Re: BeebSCSI full size + internal VFS adaptor boards

Just to say, all of these are built and tested - I'm just making up cables etc. I aim to get everything packaged this week, but I'm prioritising the ones being picked up at Wakefield, so they'll go out early next week all things being equal. If you haven't sent me your address, please do! Also, plea...

Re: Where to start resurrecting a RiscPC 700

Yes. I've seen worse! Get the battery off. Snip it off :) then take everything you can off the board and treat the area that has been leaked on with distilled vinegar, agitating with an old toothbrush. Wash it all off really well with water, and give it a good rinse with distilled water if you're in...

Re: Open source firmware for Gotek floppy emulator released

In FF.CFG put the line

Code: Select all

host = acorn

and you should be OK?

If it still doesn't work, I'll raise a ticket to fix it - it'll just be down to it not detecting the right size for all varients of adf, it can be fixed quite quickly.

Re: BeebSCSI full size + internal VFS adaptor boards

What is the current availability of these VFS adaptor boards please? And do they work with the "mini" board? And all types of Acorn SCSI interface connector on the Master motherboard? Yes and yes to the latter question, but unfortunately they're all accounted for (for the former question)...

Re: Tv display top line problem

Back in the day people would get the tv engineer out to drop the display for the beebs and elks - the top line would almost always be off on a normal set. That's basically what you're dealing with here.

Re: Acorn Electron modern storage solutions question

That code doesn't transfer files from floppy images, it just transfers files. No reason why it couldn't be re-coded to use MODE 6 AFAIK. If you want to move things off a floppy disc image onto a hard drive image (and vice versa) you can use DFS/ADFS Explorer on the PC or, I believe, the new bit of s...

Re: HXC Floppy emulator on A3010

From experience with play testing flashfloppy, I'm minded to think it's because RISC OS relies on well timed index pulses to detect whether the drive has a disk in it. It's probably fine with reads as the memory stick will be working fairly fast, but with writes it slows down and the pulses don't tu...

Re: Open source firmware for Gotek floppy emulator released

That all makes sense now :) The actual HxC emulator firmware hasn't been updated since 2013 afaik (beta seems to be from 2016) - it doesn't do Acorn format files as native, they do have to be converted to HFE. A thread on the support website's your best bet, indeed.

Re: Open source firmware for Gotek floppy emulator released

That won't effect being able to update the firmware. I'm still not sure if we're talking Gotek or HxC floppy emulator here though? But please move discussions of issues with HxC firmware into the other thread anyway. This thread's for the open source stuff, which is now working fine with all the 8bi...

Re: Open source firmware for Gotek floppy emulator released

I believe it will. If it doesn't you can always stick the HxC software back on. HxC should also support the acorn formats without needing to convert to HFE though.

Re: Open source firmware for Gotek floppy emulator released

The flash floppy version I linked above supports all of the native acorn formats without having to convert to HFE. The only reason to use hfe is for protected discs, so it's only really relevant if you're kryofluxing originals in this case...

Daniel's right about the cf/sd to IDE being uncertain, but I can confirm this one works in my 3020 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320942895708 if you decide to give it a go. It depends on the card - the adapter is just a straight through thing. Basically means you have a c...
