Re: disk images: graphical images of data layout on disk

G64 contains information about how the data were written, its good for protected disc formats and there's enough info in the file to recreate the original disc.

Flux transitions. It's the distance between these that are translated into bits, and consequently bytes :)

Nice detective work there. The CPC version contradicts itself: gac.png Looks like I'll need to change my code back! Damn 35 year old bugs... Well not consciously! It just came to mind how I'd cut myself and things. :D If you were considering using a chainsaw to put a computer together, I don't doubt you'd have found it annoying! :) I dunno though - there was certainly a stage when the two things went hand in hand, the sorts of people wh...

It's only hard in that it involves diving into a relatively unfamiliar set up when it's not the day job; and despite minimal risk, the hassle involved if the forum gets broken will be quite high and require more than the 5/10 minutes at a time that any of us normally manage to grab to attempt to add...

Re: Recurrent corrupted discs - possible floppy drive fault?

ADFS, pre-arc, is sequential so there's no interleaving between sides. Fills up side 0 then on to side 1.

Re: No colour from Electron Rf or modded composite

You'll should be OK on the RGB/SCART, but looking at the circuit diagram, if it's not coming out of composite or UHF I'd suggest changing the transistor Q7, and if that doesn't work, and the absence of test equipment, it could be any one of ICs 10, 11, 12, 14, 15 or 16... Re: BASIC Disk Format

That's how the kryoflux does it, it does reduce crosstalk but it's no real substitute for throughly degaussing the disk beforehand.

You also don't really want to be writing 40 track discs in 80 track drives :( The double stepping is really a solution for reading, not for writing. :?

Re: Open source firmware for Gotek floppy emulator released

Excellent work! :) - The encoder won't fit as is, so you can either remove it from its PCB, or else desolder some of the pins and extend to the PCB with wires so you can put the PCB at a right angle to the encoder.
