Oh my - I think I have the Elk versions of some of those somewhere, they were T2P3'd so might need some un-wrangling....

Re: Adapter and device that reliably produce Disc Error 23

Annoyingly Kingston don't appear to have any data sheets, so I've no clue as to which standard it's following. :( Is that with ADFS patched for Disc Error 20 before you run !HForm? Yes, this is patched for disc error 20 - it recognises the sd adaptor and its geometry, so the two things are obviousl...

Re: Adapter and device that reliably produce Disc Error 23

So, I've got two on the go now (I've tied /IOCS16 in the A3010 to ground now). The CF adaptor is fairly irrelevant as they're just straight through, but it's one of these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221077308288 The card that produces error 23 is a kingston 1GB - CF/1024FE, it does this when trying ...

Back in Manchester - fantastic meet - thank you to Alex for organising! Absolutely loads going on. No magic smoke released, so I think that's a major win all round :)

Re: Adapter and device that reliably produce Disc Error 23

OK - I can now produce error 23 reliably with my A3010, formatting a particular CF card as soon as it's writing the map it gets grumpy.

Re: Adapter and device that reliably produce Disc Error 23

Currently playing with this on my 3010 - format seems to work, but all I'm getting is broken directory - even with patched adfs loaded. I'm going to try and tie /IOCS16 to ground and see what happens...

Cut the batteries out with side cutters or anything that will cut the legs off them (e.g. https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/302296865655). Will follow up with replacing tomorrow. Get them out now, however!

Are you sure +ve and -ve to the motherboard are the right way around?

If so, the next suspect is the CMOS IC itself... (HD146818)

Re: Open source firmware for Gotek floppy emulator released

I've just finished adding ADFS disk image support to FlashFloppy in my fork, Keir's looking at pulling it into the main branch - if anyone would like to test it please have a go (not added DFS support as single density isn't done yet): https://github.com/drdpj/FlashFloppy ADL= ADFS double sided, int...

Re: OLD DATA RECORDER INFO REQUIRED

If you can hear it on the tape, check that the cable's OK (continuity between EAR and the right pins on the DIN plug - if you have a multimeter, you can do that by setting it on its lowest resistance setting and seeing if there's very little resistance between the two) and if that's OK, I'd start by...

Good luck! Pictures of how you get on! :) It doesn't need the clip to work at all. Fine without - that just slightly helps in removing the module.

Re: 2x non-functional RiscPC mobos - for cost of postage

The VRAM socket is a 136way D/SIMM socket. I can't find anything appropriate. I suspect it was rather rare - I can't think of anything else that used something like that myself.... :?

Because the SIMMS won't fit next to each other - just replace like with like :) (Straight up would probably work)

Well, I've pimped a gotek (total cost of all of this probably in the region of £17):

Currently, as ford said, you have to convert SSD/DSD images to HFE, but it works! :)

Re: RiscPC lost network access

Ergh. my usual trick when things like this happen is to reinstall the boot sequence from scratch. I confess, I've never done RISCOS 5 on the RPC - mine sit running 3.7. Someone may have a may have a less "sledgehammer" solution to reset all the internet configuration...

Re: Problem Beeb MotherBoard

I'm going to have to defer on this one - personally I'd try and clear up the RAM fault first and make sure my 6522s were good, but there are any number of other things that could be arguing a bit - I'd probably scope the reset/clock lines to see what they were doing on boot. However, until you've ir...

Re: Problem Beeb MotherBoard

It won't boot properly with a dodgy keyboard cable connected so in the first instance I'd assume that's why it's needing a few ctrls before you catch it right... Once that's ruled out then it's time to look further :)
