Before it gets too hot in here, just a general reminder that vociferous discussion of computer related history and Clive's inability to make something that doesn't have an air of "bodge" about it is absolutely fine, but challenge the idea, not the person. There's absolutely no need. :)

Re: Upgrading a BBC Master power supply with a modern 60W supply

I could. What would you likely to say? As I am not good with rejection  Assuming I asked you nicely enough and it was do able what would be the wrong cost, I have no idea. Is it more expensive to print in 3d than using officail printer manufacture ink cartridges in a 2d printer? :D It'd be...

Re: AtoMMC on the Beeb's 1mhz bus.

I've had datacentre+music 500+beebopl+beebsid dangling off the 1MHz bus and it's been fine. It's what it's designed to do! :)

Re: AtoMMC on the Beeb's 1mhz bus.

Freeing up the user port is the main point here. If mmfs can be made to play with the beebscsi hardware over the 1MHz bus that would seem to be a good solution? No having to invent new hardware etc?

Re: Which A3010 Monitor?

I've got a syncmaster that can do the same. The things that's a bit disappointing is that I've never seen a TV that'll take 15kHz through the VGA port :(

Re: Which A3010 Monitor?

Multisync is, I think, an NEC trademark. Their old CRTs would synchronise to a low enough frequency, the LCDs don't unfortunately. The key thing you're looking for is this line in the specs: Synchronization Range - Vertical 50 - 85 kHz Synchronization Range - Horizontal 31.5 - 91.1 kHz That horizont...

Nothing special, just a bucket of IPA and I've become fairly adept at cleaning the drive heads (plus I tend to run my archiving drives without screws in the lids so I can get at the heads easily)...

Re: Which A3010 Monitor?

CRT = excellent, but obviously old and bulky. LCDGameModes works for many things but sometimes doesn't and sometimes gives a slightly odd aspect ratio. A BenQ BL702A is actually a modern LCD multiscan monitor and should deal with all the A3010 resolutions. All this depends on funds, desk space and d...
