Re: Disc Error 20/21/23 and SATA->IDE support

OK - it's clearly an ADFS bug causing the broken directory issue, Wizzo IDEFS once loaded can see the drive (which was formatted under ADFS), and use it normally.

Re: Disc Error 20/21/23 and SATA->IDE support

It's an FC1307A - most of the more recent ones use this, and they don't behave well... I'll test it with Wizzo a bit later.

Re: Disc Error 20/21/23 and SATA->IDE support

It's my bodged A3010 (but would assume it'll be the same on any 3.1), with the SD-IDE adaptor linked above. Format the drive with hform - all looks fine. Try to open and instantly get "Broken Directory".

Re: Disc Error 20/21/23 and SATA->IDE support

Of course, my testing has now ground to a screeching halt as my A5000 has decided to fail during POST before initialising VIDC  ... just as I’m about to test a patch! ARgh! That's a nightmare :( If you'd like me to test it on the A3010 I can. With regard to the broken directory, there are no ...

Re: SmallyMouse2 - Universal USB to Quadrature mouse converter

Hi -=> you either need to pop one together yourself using the stuff that's available on the website (expensive for a one off), or approach someone who's producing them. Our very own TheCorfiot has produced some - I don't know if he's producing any more or still has any. I'll point him at this thread...

Yes, use a NiMH, preferably with a low-self discharge rate such as an eneloop. Low capacity are often better in this regard (usually AAAs rather than AAs).

Re: Adapter and device that reliably produce Disc Error 23

Annoyingly Kingston don't appear to have any data sheets, so I've no clue as to which standard it's following. :( Is that with ADFS patched for Disc Error 20 before you run !HForm? Yes, this is patched for disc error 20 - it recognises the sd adaptor and its geometry, so the two things are obviousl...

Re: Adapter and device that reliably produce Disc Error 23

So, I've got two on the go now (I've tied /IOCS16 in the A3010 to ground now). The CF adaptor is fairly irrelevant as they're just straight through, but it's one of these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221077308288 The card that produces error 23 is a kingston 1GB - CF/1024FE, it does this when trying ...

OK - I can now produce error 23 reliably with my A3010, formatting a particular CF card as soon as it's writing the map it gets grumpy.

Currently playing with this on my 3010 - format seems to work, but all I'm getting is broken directory - even with patched adfs loaded. I'm going to try and tie /IOCS16 to ground and see what happens...

Are you sure +ve and -ve to the motherboard are the right way around?

If so, the next suspect is the CMOS IC itself... (HD146818)
