I confess, I don't know how it layers up either :? - Something to do with FileCore and drivers. Someone who knows the inners of RiscOS should...

Re: Stupid question about SCSI and IDE podules

Exactly - Some IDE podules (e.g. the castle one for the A30x0 series) use the ADFS IDE handling. Some use IDEFS and are completely independent of !Configure.

I need to check the internals of my plus 3 to see how it's set up... (all those blasted screws...) It definitely always used to do the flicker thing in those screen modes.

On ebay you do have buyer protection, which I've used to great effect on a number of occasions. Crowdfunding your protection is precisely zipzerozilcheroonie.

The "potted history of Acorn Computers" should also serve as a cautionary tale... In fairness to the next, there's actually a physical product that's been prototyped. This one looks relatively low risk in the great scheme of things...

Re: ZX Spectrum next... Anybody backing ?

I, for one, am a big fan of the harlequin clones - proper speccies built from off the shelf parts due to the genius of a bit of reverse engineering from the die. The next would look nice on my shelf - and the case is gorgeous, but I can't see it getting more use than my Harlequin 128 or rubberkeyed ...

Re: GBS8200 fix

Another word on this - my second GBS8200 to all intents and purposes looked fine without modification, but playing something that puts the video output of the beeb through its paces (i.e. Tricky's excellent Frogger) revealed otherwise - little coloured artifacts, sparklies and all sorts in the playf...

I think just replacing them is the best course of action... I think they "go" no matter what... (some brands worse than others afaik)

Re: Master 512 disks for DataCentre?

Honestly not sure about gommc/gosdc. You'd have to contact John K. The way I built the IDE image was writing the disks to real floppies and installing from there. The other option is an HxC floppy emulator. That should work.
