Re: RisciX tape image.

Thanks for taking the process through to completion! I've downloaded the image and will take a closer look at it later in the week. There's a bit of user-specific information in it - home directories and /etc/passwd information, so it might be good to take down the image fairly soon and we can uplo...

Files from modern PC to DFS disk....

Hi all, What's the easiest way to get some files generated on my PC to a DFS disk (or disk image that can be written to a disk). I do have several ways of writing the images (Windows / Linux PC, DataCentre). Ideally I don't want to have to manually load from one FS & save to another as that is O...

RisciX tape image.

Hi All, Here is the data that I extracted from the DC-150 tape, there only seems to be 52MB of data on the tape to extact, it also seems to be stored as an old style cpio archive so you will need cpio -H odc as part of the extraction filename assuming you are using a modern cpio. Extracting from the...

Hi all, This is the Eagle schematic of the Slogger Click board, as traced from an original board belonging to Arcadian. The smoking capacitors issue is exactly the same as that for the Beeb and many other devices - they're the class X2 filter capacitors made by RIFA. Except that in most Apple II computers the PSU is sealed with rivets that have to be drilled out :( I think the IIe machines that I have both have scre...

Floppy drive ready line.....

Hi all, We know that the 8271 needs a ready signal from the floppy drive, on the Acorn machines this is faked up with some counters and latches. However on my System clone I am trying to use a drive that actually supplies the ready signal (it is a 3.5", but has been modified to supply ready). T...

Well planning on bringing : Normal solder / desolder stuff. Shuttle PC with SCSI card and tape drive. System Clone, with switchable video card and hopefully debugged floppy controller. Beeb master + data centre as it's handy for writing disks with. Prolly a Dragon to show off multicart to Arcadian. ...

Re: QIC tape and drive (from ABUG North booking info topic)

Right update, After digging out drives and tapes I eventually found a combination of SCSI card and shuttle that works with the 60MB drive, and was able to read some tapes I had. So then I swapped 150MB drive into system inserted tape and tried to read it, and it ground to a halt rather rapidly, rubb...

Re: ABug NORTH User Group meeting | 19-21 JAN 2018 | MANCHESTER *BOOKING INFO*

QIC-150 drives should be able to _read_ DC600A tapes; I'm pretty sure I did that in the early 90s. Indeed, turns out the only ones I can find are DC300XLP but the 60mb drive I have can write them, according to the manual for the Archive 150mb drive it can read them too so shouldbe able to test. Esp...

I *may* have a qic-150 drive, I certainly have one of the 60mb ones of the same physical cartridge size. If I can find it and it is SCSI I could bring it to the meetup. Now does anyone know where I could get a cheapish pcie scsi card, as all the ones I have are pci or isa :) Update: I do have an Arc...

Sugestion for ICE T65/Z80/6809 firmware.

Hi, Would it be possible to implement (or is it implemented and I've just not spotted it) a quiet form of the logging when tracing that doesn't print the big string of numbers on the right hand side, just the exec address and instruction. This would make doing long debug traces much quicker as it wo...

Re: crystal oscilator modules......

And it's working now, worked out the problem was the CPLD not capturing writes properly and the 68008 not waiting long enough for the SPI transaction to complete before reading back the result :(

All works now and with the 50MHz osillator is much faster than the bit bangged setup :)

Cheers.

That could solve the Godil problem. But where to get the XC9536XL and XC9572XL CPLD's? The 44pin PLCC are not available any more except from Ebay ... but are these reliable? You could of course re-engineer (I'm assuming you still have the design files which IIRC where for kicad) the boards for the ...

[Oops, I see now I missed an existing reply!] And then, hacking off the 2x50 sockets and then soldering the 40pin header is another option. Desoldering them intact could be tricky, but attacking them with sidecutters and then removing the 100 pins one by one should be easier. It would of course be ...

I'd initially thought about making an adapter board bu eventually opted to remove the female headers and replace with top mounted male ones + dil40 on bottom. Though it was a reasonable amount of work :( and took ages to clear the solder out of the holes to fit the new top mounted pins. Cheers. Phill.

It says "MOS 3.20 with incorrect CS". I'm curious what the 'incorrect CS' might refer to. EDIT: Thinking about it, I'm wondering if CS is chip select. Yes, it's Chip Select. It incorrectly had a CS line (active high) instead of a ~CS line (active low), so came on a mini-PCB with an invert...

No that doesn't work because the AtoMMC rom and DISATOM are both #Axxx versions. You could install an #Exxx AtoMMC rom instead of a #Axxx version and place the AtoMMC rom on top. But if he did that wouldn't it preclude the use of SDDOS which IIRC is an $E000 ROM? I do have some RAMROM boards left, ...
