Re: ABUG SOUTH 1 to 3 June 2018 (Hampshire) BOOKING THREAD

Certainly my Apple //e has the Rifa caps, one of them is the same type as the Beeb ones, but the other is a much bigger value (and still needs changing). Would probably help to have some pictures of the machine in question. I'm sure I could be pursuaded to bring my drill and bits with me.....though ...

Re: BeebDis updates

Hi Phill, I'm a huge fan of BeebDis, and the recent changes have made it much quicker/easier to use. I've also been able rebuild from source successfully on both Linux and Windows. Being able to compile on multi platforms was the reason for using Lazarus / Freepascal rather than Delphi, as it will ...

BeebDis updates

Hi all. Just a post to let people know that BeebDis has now reached version 1.20. This now includes the facility to disassemble 6502, 65c02, wd65c02 and Motorola 6809 code. I've now split out the disassembler code into processor specific and generic parts which should make adding of other CPU target...

Re: Connecting a printer to the Atom

Hi Phill How would you provide the connections to get bit 7 by piggybacking the ic50? It sound a very interesting idea. Piggy back it on the current chip with only power, ground and enables connected to the bottom chip (so pins 1,10,19 and 20). Bend all other pins on the upper chip so they make no ...

And it would be super easy to piggy back another LS244 on the one already there and use that.

That depends if it's actually a 5 hole shroud with only 3 pins populated because 5 pin plugs and sockets are more common. The monitor connector on the Dragon 32/64 is like that.

Re: Connecting a printer to the Atom

I really must dust down the design I had for paralell printer output to serial. Basically just an AVR reading an input port on strobe and outputting on serial. Should actually be easy to do as an arduino shield.....let me think on that.

Just pushed version 1.1 to github. Hilights for this version : Fixed extra space between oprands in control file bug (more than one spec caused oprands not to be seen). Added newpc / repeat / endrepeat control file keywords, to allow easy definition of blocks of repeating data e.g. the opcode / byte...

Hi all,

Just to let you know I've put the source of BeebDis on Github here :

https://github.com/prime6809/BeebDis

Should compile with any recent version of Lazzarus available for your preferred platform from : http://www.lazarus-ide.org/

Re: Soldering and Hotair station options

As Daniel said, I'd go with the Hakko 888D for soldering. For desoldering / hot air I have one of these : https://www.pcb-soldering.co.uk/aoyue-2702a-pcb-work-station.html They also do versions that just have the hot air or just have the desolder gun. But the desolder gun is useful for removing comp...

I have both the Rigol DS1052 and later upgraded / complemented it with the Rigol DS1054, both have been execellent and would recommend them. I have both hacked to 100MHz, and both seem to perform ok.

One thing that should be pointed out.....

That ROM board would be incompatible with having 8K of video RAM as some of the video ram and colour boards use, probably not a problem for John, but worth noting.

It's occurred to me that in the 8-bit area of the forum, we don't actually have a sub-forum for the Acorn System line of machines. Give that several System - related posts have been made in the Atom sub-forum, might it be worth renaming it as "Acorn Atom and System"? (Alternatively, the p...

Re: Correct way of quitting from an Atom program....

Hi all, To answer my own question, the fix is that on the Atom, the code needs to start at $2900, rather than $2800 for the System, otherwise the BRK causes a crash because basic can't exit cleanly to command mode.....it ends up looking for the end of the basic program in the middle of the loaded ex...

Correct way of quitting from an Atom program....

Hi all, In porting the System disk utilities to the Atom, I have come across a small problem. The code that runs on the system will generally error out by calling the inline print routine and then executing a BRK : .QuitTooSmall JSR INLINE_PRINT EQUS "Destination too small" BRK On the syst...

Re: MAME: Atom

I want to remove 'Atom with Eprom Box' as it's a fake machine, but would like to keep some kind of ROM expansion that will be re-implemented as a slot device into PL6/PL7. Would the Bankswitching board be sufficient as the above RAM/ROM expansion seems like overkill. Do these boards still allow for...

Re: Gotek question around image compatibility

ssd/dsd will be supported directly in FlashFloppy, they're next on the list. There are a lot of truncated files knocking around, but I would generally recommend padding them out to full size, it's tidier, and you know what you're dealing with - 200k single sided, 400k double sided. Actually to thro...

Re: MAME: Atom

The Atom disk pack will deal with 80 track disks just fine, if you connect it to an 80 track drive. The problem being that Acorn only supplied a 40 track format program, though it would be fairly trivial to hack it to be 80 track (the difference between the System's FORM40 and FORM80 is just 4 bytes...
