Re: Latest version of BeebEm

Is it an idea to post a beta 4.15 over here. In a recent post I saw people having issues with directX like I had before. In my recent builds this seems to be gone.

How far are we off from a release?

Re: directx 9 error with beebem ?

I think these issues started when the directx stuff was integrated in windows core. Are you running 4.14 directly from the Mike's site? I think 4.15 with major upgrades is now just around the corner. It seems to be waiting for some minor bugfixes. I'm currently running my own build and didn't experi...

Re: New 65C02/W65C816 copro

Acorn thought of the Beeb as a "platform" to try processor architectures using the tube/copro paradigm. I.e. the Beeb is an I/O processor while the copro does the processing heavy lifting. I remember Sophie Wilson talking about that in one of her rare interviews. I just imagine leveraging ...

Re: New 65C02/W65C816 copro

A very cool project for a 65C816 co-pro with a large memory would be... By the time you've done all that you might as well ditch the beeb! I have the original ReCo6502 and while it makes the Beeb blazingly fast I wished it had the full addressable 16MB aboard. I've been looking at these board...

Re: Getting more userspace RAM on the BBC Master

If you're going to target a 2nd processor anyway you might want to consider going for 65816.
However if you want to backport to a non-copro master eventually this might be overkill.

Re: Getting more userspace RAM on the BBC Master

I think the whole point of bank switching is to smash the 64KB limit altogether at the cost of not having continuous ram space. Unless you'd want to handle "big" files, which typically is data, you wouldn't need that continuous space anyway. You might want to look at Bruce Smiths Advanced ...

Re: Latest version of BeebEm

I've been working steadily on what I call v4.20 of BeebEm, which includes the 68k co-processors described here . Since I've now resolved a lot of bugs (and since I didn't release this code anywhere yet) I wanted to release this version on my own github page, but I'll put that on hold now. With this...

Ah, great to see jgh and Mike in there. M5000 in Beebem would be super!

Unfortunately my "physical" beebs have gone haywire so I'm a bit discouraged at the mo.

Re: Should the Elk have been a 'full' Beeb?

The restrictions of the electron compared to the C64 and Beeb took me on a path of striving for efficient thinking and coding, which has proven quite worthwhile for me up to this day. I still believe that, would I have opted for the C64, I would have stuck to just playing games. Just something I tho...

Re: Should the Elk have been a 'full' Beeb?

When I finally got a Beeb some years back I was actually surprised that the game sounds weren't that different from the electron versions I remembered from the 80's. Indeed the sound restrictions were annoying at the time but that was compared to the C64 which was the big one in the Netherlands back...

I just did a fresh build from the stardot master branch but it doesn't work for me. (W10-64) The avi file just shows a black screen and when ending the video "emulates" a stuck key.

Re: Beebem on Github

:) I've had a reply from Jonathan. He'll have a look at his module handler patches so perhaps at some point we can add the patched rom to the project. Hi Roganjosh,

I'd be really interested to have a non WDC 65816 assembler going. Especially when it can be done natively.

To go even a step beyond.... a C compiler....

Ok, let's wrap this one up then. When I'm back on my Dev laptop I'll add the Sprow rom 0.40 and relevant attributions as far as possible. BBC native code to github?

@all, I'm reviving one of my old 6502 assembler projects which, for old times' sake, I'm doing natively in the inline assembler. (master mode though, I'm not that much of a masochist) As I like to share my efforts for improvements I'm wondering how best to do this using github. Sharing it as an ssd ...

Re: Beebem on Github

Well as you can see in my fork I branched from the 4.14 tag as I obviously got that working in my previous attempt. I wanted to make sure it built 4.14+Sprow correctly before applying the upstream changes as trying to figure out any conflicts starting from the HEAD would imho be more complicated. Th...

Thanks, but really I need the pull request to be on a topic branch rather than master.
