Re: Just dug out my old beeb

Most keys can be "fixed" by tapping them a few hundred times. It is probably worth comparing them to the keyboard matrix in the user (advanced?) to see if you have lost a track.
I have seen a power cable with quite a think wrapping of electricians tape and then a couple of cable ties.

Although it would lower the overall quality, you can get 10 micro SD to SD card adaptors for 99p delivered via China from ebay.

Re: Experiments in Stable Raster Timing

You could pack a few more lines in by using the "mode 7" type addressing, for 1k on the master or 2k on the B.

Re: MAME: Video handling

Matt, the mode 7 mapping at &3c00 is model A/B and maybe B+, not on the master as far as I know. I think of it as a minor missing feature that has never been used afaik. Pernod, are you referring to the "mode 7" mapping "bug" or something else? When I looked at MAME, it didn'...

Re: MAME: Video handling

I'm sure someone (RichTW?) can explain it better, but R4 (+1) controls how many character lines are drawn before the 6845 starts again by reading the latched values for R12/R13, this is what I meant by "screen". R7 determines when VSYNC happens and a little while (54 scan lines after the e...

I've never tried to add to the menu, I just drop in a new disc and *DBOOT, but I would be interested in knowing a bit more about it, like how it signs files to discs.

Re: OS RAM module

I think someone mentioned that some ROMs use the high bit of their byte as a flag as they "know" that it is spare.
I think it would be worth a go though.

Re: Today I received.....

The main "compatibility" issue we had making games was that the millennium 1 didn't do texturing! The firegl 1000 was also a pain, not doing alpha blending with translucency, but with stippling (now back again as alpha to coverage!) I had a mystique and my friend had a Millennium 2 and nei...

Its a bit late now (maybe), but what would be required to add a battery backup?
I would only really see this as useful for using as a trouble shooting aid as otherwise it could be simply *LOADed.

Re: what should i write next?

RipCord and Circus are arcade games that use a paddle, you can "Insert coin" with 5 and start 1/2 players with 1/2, but you need a paddle or analogue joystick to move. Sprint if you have the ROMs is pretty uncontrollable without a steering wheel and Warlords will also be paddle/joystick up...

Re: what should i write next?

The latest versions are in the thread.
Space Invaders still needs a better sound effect, but the one that I put in is as close as I could get to the analogue original.
I did update phoenix to rc2, I don't know if it will ever get any further; it is all their and playable though.

And a copy per combination of pixel offsets.
Reminds me of my first really-x demo bitd, it used four pixels per row, but at least I had a convenient place to put the graphics, which were also in four byte chunks :) I think it was RichTW that said that Zaxson on the beeb did the same thing.

Re: what should i write next?

The 2600 is very hard to emulate on the beeb. Drawing stuff at the correct position involves seeing a couple of counters and a couple of registers and clearing them is just not drawing them next time! I think each game could probably be done as individual simulators, but a generic Tia simulator on t...

Re: BeebEm 4.1.4 has stopped working

I have had similar issues and usually it is the graphics settings work ok, but not in Windowed and I was last using them in full screen (or vice versa etc) Reinstalling, or just overwriting the settings configs file has always fixed it for me. B-em is graphically more accurate, but if memory serves,...

Re: Experiments in Stable Raster Timing

If you change character rows per"screen", you might get the same corruption as I did on frogger on some 6845s. That can be avoided by having an extra line and then turning off the display.
