Re: ABUG EAST MIDLANDS (Winter Warmer) 17-19 November 2017 (Leicestershire) BOOKING THREAD

I won't be there until tomorrow morning, but hopefully will be bringing a CRT-TV to fix dropping the RGB, a couple of beebs which fry their MMCs, a working setup to play with and a laptop to continue development of my new Centipede game which I have been neglecting recently.

Re: Updated - BBC Micro .MMB

My memory is a little hazy on that menu system. !BOOT is the automatically EXECuted file when the disc is "booted", but if there is room, you could add any file and point the menu at it. If it is *EXECed you could prepend your stuff, or if it is CHAINed, you could add a check at the beginn...

Re: Starting a Prince of Persia port...

You and stardot got a mention on "The Retro Hour" podcast, they seemed very impressed that PoP could be done on a beeb and said that they should do more episodes on the beeb as it was such a big part of the UK retro computer history.

lda &101,x 4 cycles 3 bytes
lda (&70),y 5 cycles 2 bytee
lda (&70,x) 6 cycles 2 bytee

In the end I didn't need the address as I did know whether I was running from ROM or *RUNning.

Re: New version of Frogger (was: A demo of what is looking like a new Frogger for the beeb)

I have been trying to make a version of frogger that can be *RUN or loaded into SWR (RAM or EPROM) and the result is attached (r.frogger). I seem to have broken it a bit, in that it now has flicker which it didn't have before, so I have some debugging to do! :x This version can be used with keyboard...

Re: 6502 Stack

I wrote a similar version of that last night, as I am making ROM versions of my games, but wanted them to be *RUNable too and the decompression code needs to know where to decompress from. I picked &70..74 :) for my decompression workspace, and put the tax etc there too.

Re: Building a BBC

Wiggle any chips to clean their legs, swap the 6522s, suspect faulty ram is where I am with beebs now. There are loads of troubleshooting threads around here, but if you can burn an EPROM, you could try my os replacement ROM and see what you get.

My (I think) Watford ZIF in my issue 3 has the ZIF above the plastic with the PCB below, so requires desoldering to install/remove it.

Very nice, I was thinking about something similar in the week. I was thinking MMC but with options for some combination of user port/ADC/speech/D2A. The main difference is that I would g never have got mine made.
Well done =D>

Re: Computer Concepts 'Text to Speech' Manual

I spent quite a while looking about a year ago, but all I found was the demo program on the disc - I think. I like the cc speech, it doesn't require a serial ROM, nor the board to be modded when adding the speech processor. My daughter, 10 at the time spent a couple of hours adding words to a little...

I'm sure Hoglet will be along with a better answer, but most software emulators at some point have had a bug latching the channel correctly.

I was thinking about it as my first CRT requires changing every time and somewhere around here, three is a discussion between Mark, myself and maybe others, but the conclusion was to use one of the methods you state. I haven't bothered to do anything as all my other CRTs are old enough to not know w...

That does ring a bell, my issue 2 is well into the fake tan category, but looks like an original model B.

Re: Issue 1 BBC, how to tell ?

I only know of two issue 2 Beebs in the wild and no issue 1s. The first widely available beeb was issue 3. The "linear" PSU is usually black with a circle in the middle.
