Re: RiscPC lost network access

Sorry, typo in my post, already tried another EtherLAN600.

It’s impossible to get the wrong Module as !Internet builds the network initialisation script.

Re: RiscPC lost network access

Just had a quick look at my EtherLAN600 issue. Cable is fine in another machine, swapped over the EtherLAN600 with a working one, same issue. I've tried static IP and DHCP on both RISC OS 3.71 and RISC OS 5.23 and have updated to the ROM and drivers from NICDrivers.zip EHTest reports: Interface medi...

Re: Impression Publisher

I figured it all out, all the original Alpine Software Impression documents that have been located have now been converted to colour PDF's. I do all the PDF work on a PC, so had no issues once I had the PostScript printer working under RISC OS. The only thing that threw me was having to add an Inter...

Re: Wanted: Alpine Software titles for public release

Thanks Dave. Managed to get three hours in at the garage, whilst the car was being serviced. COPS and Cyborg are now complete and I've started checking them for 32bit viability. Testing on virtual 26/32bit StrongARM threw up use of an undocumented Sound_InstallVoice call, which has now been confirme...

Re: RiscPC lost network access

If it's any consolation, my StrongARM RiscPC started doing exactly the same thing when I got it back from the
London Show. Haven't had a chance to investigate why yet, but suspect it's a mismatch between networking Modules.

Re: Wanted: Alpine Software titles for public release

Attached is the Impression->PS->PDF conversion of the Creator 2 User Guide, if someone with an original could confirm it's an accurate representation. I've assumed the manual is A5. Impression reported the Greek3 font was missing, so I will need to create a revised version once I can locate a copy o...

(both with a BASIC hex file that allows you to change the registered user name) That would be useful as my copy is currently registered to the previous owner. I've cleaned the virus off of it, changing the owner details and removing the dongle check were to be next, until I found my Impression II d...

If I have the ethernet cable to router plugged in, boot sequence stops after: Boot:Choices.Boot.Predesk.DALimit Boot:Choices.Boot.Presdesk.SetupNet The DHCPExecute line in !Boot.Choices.Internet.Startup will have "-b" on it, which will block until it gets a DHCP address. Remove that and i...

Re: Wanted: Alpine Software titles for public release

can you give us a rough idea of when you think the disc-image of the ALPS support disc might be released? Are you waiting till the accompanying manuals/docs are found? (That might take a very long time..!) Titles are only release when the archive copy is complete. In the case of the ALPS support di...

Re: Impression Publisher

It took a good ten hours, but I managed to undo Publisher's !Boot changes to get the machine to boot again and figure out PostScript file printing. Hi, Jon. Phil gave you and JASPP permission to release ALPS and its docs above , when he said... I appreciate people are eager for JASPP to release titles, but there is a process I nee...

Guys, I've just found the ALPS manuals in pdf format. I can't remember how I got these but thanks to the person who did it Turns out I sent them to you on 22-03-16, they're the manuals I produced many years ago. We had a discussion about JASPP releasing all the Alpine Software titles but it doesn't...

Disc errors I'm attempting to resolve: ⋅ 20 No DRQ when expected ⋅ 21 Drive busy when commanded ⋅ 23 Controller did not respond within timeout 20 - is now resolved and was due to a revision in the timings in the ATA-2 standard. A fix is due to go into RISC OS 5 soon, al...

I don't think those commands will work, as the Modules will be 26bit in the Podule ROM they won't be initialised by RISC OS.

Re: Adapter and device that reliably produce Disc Error 23

I have SD-> IDE adaptors which consistently produce disc error 23 when connected to an A5000 I don't have any SD->IDE adapters. To date, I've tested CF/SATA adapters on an A4000, RiscPC and Iyonix, I've not tried the A5000 as I presumed the IDE is identical to the A4000. It's certainly going to be ...

Adapter and device that reliably produce Disc Error 23

In my quest to resolve all the IDE issues under RISCOS once and for all, I need a device that reliably produces Disc Error 23 to allow ADFS to be debugged. I've tested dozens of CF cards and all worked flawlessly with ADFS patched for Disc Error 20, so there's a possibility this issue needs a specif...

Given the technical nature of folk around here, my post on ROOL, which I repost below, might spark someones interest to test the theory if they have the necessary skills: where is the MSB disappearing? Disc Error 20/21/23 and SATA->IDE support

I've been looking at these issues on a RiscPC and have now tested dozens of SD/CF/SATA devices on the native IDE with stock ADFS in RISC OS 3.70. Disc Error 20 appears to be a timing issue, which can be resolved with a patch. This is going to go into RISC OS 5 soon, so should resolve the issue going...

Re: Worth Taking a Look At

What interests me is the ROMs - labelled "FOX" and dated 8/3/90, which seems to predate the A540 release version of RISC OS 2.01 (5th Jul 90) but after the original RISC OS 2 release (5th Oct 88). Any thoughts? I didn't notice the ROM's, but now you mention it they look like EPROM so it's...
