Re: Personal Computer News. Missing Games.

Dave, I feel for you. From your website I understand that you charged for the DVDs as a way to get motivation. I can understand that. I am fortunate that enough people give feedback here to keep me motivated, but one does wonder how people feel using the website. Do they like it? (Please like my web...

Mape tape 3

Going through flaxcottage's archive I have got as far as this tape. 2 questions 1) What is the $,XXX file? 2) Air brush doesn't work - try loading the outline DOG, it just hangs. Any ideas? Here is what I have worked out so far: $.FIRSTP1 L FF1300 FF8023 000E2C 17B Part of Front Page $.XXX 000000 00...

Done. Updating the custom URL field updates the last updated time, so you can see what I have done by sorting by latest updates.

I'm not a touch typist, but I think the bottom row of letters being shifted to the left will be a problem even for me.

Re: Should joystick/paddle only games be download-only

What if the 'Play' buttons were to be removed from the Search page, but retained on the individual page Currently I have a custom URL of NONE to disable the play button. This is used for games which don't work in jsbeeb, or picture discs for adventure games, where we can't automate a disc change. S...

Seems to be different in different modes. Anyway, since it doesn't seem to cause a problem I just made the hole in the image a load wider. Hopefully its better now.

Re: Question about Complete BBC Games site

Would it be possible to superimpose black borders on the canvas element I don't know. Wait, the one on Matt's website has a screen around the outside. Maybe if I pinched that code and altered the image to be black? Hows that? VDU23,128,1,2,4,8,16,32,64,128:VDU23,129,128,64,32,16,8,4,2,1:MODE2:REPEA...

Re: Question about Complete BBC Games site

You can use a similar approach to change the size of the canvas element that is used to render the screen. I did have a play with this to try and make it full screen, but I couldn't get it to resize automatically in a friendly way. I expect it can be done, just I am not clever enough to do it.

Re: Laptop repairs

My laptop is a Vaio and they are known for the thermal compound between the CPU and the heatsink failing. I took the heatsink, complete with heat pipes off, then added new compound and reattached it, and that made a massive difference. I cleared the dust away while I had it apart.

Yes, creating that program would probably be a good idea for the sake of consistency -- and sanity! I have created and run the above program. I am working through John's educational archive and have got to a tape which accompanies a book (Basic Graphics and Sound - Addison Wesley) which has over 70 files on side 1. Oh - got it. If I hit enter on my laptop it happens. It is because it hits the commercial button rather than the search button, because it is the first submit button. I know what is happening now, so I can look into it.

I did reproduce this, but only once, and it doesn't happen any more. I'm a bit confused, but I'll attempt to blame it on caching.

Can you click the refresh button a couple of times, and see if it still happens?

Peter, what did you do to decode the partial block? I feel there is a lot I am missing!
