Re: Elk ACP3 and ACP4 Floppy Interface

Difference between AP3 and AP4: The hardware for both is identical. The AP4 came first and provided DFS with PAGE kept at E00. It contained RAM that overlaid the top of the ROM. The AP3, like Acorn's Plus 3, had ADFS, however, it was a 'fixed' version! - The 'fix' was for the Hugo first sector corru...

AP5, Pegasus/AP3-4/EUPURS Metal Case Design

Finally had more time to complete these three drawings. The EUPURS case was the most difficult, as there were no mounting holes! I've still to double check everything, however, I believe we're good to go . . . Attached anr snapshots and PDFs. Note: I've still to complete the dimensioning. Most of it...

Re: Which soldering iron?

I keep meaning to do a video of how I place and solder the 29F032 MGC FlashROM. I don't 'drag' solder: I apply lots of flux and then place the soldering iron tip against the ICs legs, maybe 4/5 pins at a time, and draw-out along the pins and pads (I use extended pads).

The ones I was thinking about are these: IMG_1350.jpg Probably no good with a width of 0.3"! But, courtesy, of Simon Inns, I have a few of these. They would need extra height e.g. other turned pin sockets (there're only 16mm high - top to bottom of pins!), however, that would be good to save da...
