Re: Screen 'shimmering' on Elk

I'd recommend the following, in the first instance. (1) Remove Plus 1, if fitted(?) (2) Reseat any socketed parts on the MRB (3) Remove ULA - clean and re-fit.

Re: Instant Mini Office II

Oh! Forgot to mention that the ROMs were all 27C256 parts. The 2 x 16K images looked identical, with a quick glance - but may not be!! I could have looked at the A14s on the PCB!

Here are the 4 x ROMs from the 'instant' Mini Office II (PCB Version). The ROM numbering is from left to right - counting from the ribbon cable end.

Re: Acorn Archimedes Disk Image

Well . . . ADFS Explorer (modified version) mounts the image OK, however, doesn't show any data - so it's a good job matt_nottm managed to view it OK.

Re: Acorn Archimedes Disk Image

Jon Welch's ADFS Explorer 'should' open this .adf file, however, there seems to be an issue with large files - I found this when I tried to open a few of my BeebSCSImini files. Jon is aware of this and has sent me a Window version that's been modified to handle these large files. I have it on my man...

Did you know . . . If you want to do some 3D designs/modeling, one of the best FREE programs to use is Fusion 360 . This is an AutoDesk product (the people who are responsible for AutoCAD) and free to use if: (1) You are a hobbyist (2) you are a business with a turnover less the 100K/year. You do ha...

Mega Games Cartridge (MGC) MK II Menu Development

I've started this new thread for the MGC MK II Menu Development. This will include all aspects of the software associated with the MK II contents. As I mentioned here I'm not keen of the 'Look' of the current MMC Menus. Here are screen shots of those Menus: BEEBMMCMenuScreen.png ElectronMMCMenuScree...

Re: Mega Games Cartridge (MGC) MK II Development

Thanks Dave. It does seem a shame to lose the option of a second SD Card interface, though only on the grounds that "more seems like better". :-) I can't actually think why you'd want two, but maybe there is a specific idea about this floating around. It was a request from Phil (Myelin) W...

Re: Mega Games Cartridge (MGC) MK II Development

This is fascinating stuff (even if slightly over my head). If I understand correctly, this cartridge would provide an SD card interface which doesn't tie up the user port - is that right? If so I would potentially be interested as a way to add MMFS to a Master without tying up the user port. I'd wa...

Mega Games Cartridge (MGC) MK II Hardware Development

The development has been going on, quietly, in the background. It was thought that we should have history of this to document the thought process. I'm not going to post the whole history, mainly to hide some of my lazy design choices e.g. not thinking ideas through properly or reading the data sheet...
