Re: A3000 OS EPROMs

It's for an A3000. Sorry, I mentioned the machine in the title but not the body of the post. In that case, will need to check the circuit diagram. The problem with EPROM compared to ROMs of same physical size is that EPROMs require one of the pins for programming, and so have a slightly different p...

Re: A3000 OS EPROMs

I want to burn my own set of OS 3.11 ROMs. What EPROMs can I use? Ian's post above is assuming you have an older Archimedes A310/A440 with a 4 ROM carrier board. Other Archimedes such as A3000 (which don't use a carrier board for RISC OS 3) may need different modifications to support large enough E...

Re: Resurrecting an early A3010

Great to see the success you've had here! Acorn's HForm was pretty complex to use and always seemed poor compared to third party formatting and initialisation software - which would often run on the desktop and usually read the drive parameters itself. I suspect this is what your powertec software i...

Wow! =D> That is great to see, thanks for taking the time to get this working Ken. Re: Computech Integra-B upgrade board

Hi Ken, I'm sure I've had the Integra Windows software running on IBOS 1.20 in the past. That's interesting. When I tried my original disk in BeebEm (running the IntegraB board), it seemed that IBOS 1.20 didn't have the necessary mouse driver. The windowing software said that I needed to do *CONFIGU...

Re: VirtualA5000 and OS_Byte 19

Hi David, What is wrong with the current OS_Byte 19 emulation, when you say it's not as expected? Have you tried RedSquirrel's A5000 emulation? I still use this occasionally when other emulators don't cope correctly, but I can't comment on its Vsync emulation (only that its VIDC emulation is definit...

On my A3000, which has a Castle IDE interface !HForm formatted the real hard disc with no problem. That's interesting... Searching previous posts on here and elsewhere suggests that it doesn't work with third party interfaces, but maybe some are more compatible than others. Castle IDE interface is ...

On the subject of "Unreleased games", were Stunt Racer 2000 Extra Tracks Series 3 or the Stunt Racer 2000 Track Designer ever released? I have both, which could probably be released if someone is prepared to test them to confirm they work. I don't know if the track designer was ever offic...

Re: Beebem save state and load state

So this would appear to be quite a significant bug in BeebEm then..? I definitely think there is some type of caching bug in the 8271 emulation. So it was nice to be able to confirm this. I had previously noticed that when changing between discs on BeebEm (using the menu entry to Load disc 0), the ...

Just reading this with interest, as I've seen the same issue in BeebEm. And it just happens that I'm sat next to my BBC B with Acorn DFS 0.9 (8271) interface and a blank disc in the drive... So... You can see this if you start up BeebEm, insert a disc image (or create a blank one), make sure write-p...

I think I'm in a battery charging situation (although I don't really know why). I've got it to a state now where it will remember the time and date across any form of reset, as long as it's been switched on for a bit, and it will keep the clock updated accurately whilst switched off. But there come...

Re: Battery Issues

Many members mount them in a suitable location far from the PCB, then run wires to the PCB. You only need two wires. Write the date on the battery using a marker pen, and stick a label on the underside/back/side of the machine so you know when the battery was fitted. As they should be renewed every...

Re: Bad Apple - 25fps video on the Beeb

There is a program for the Acorn Atom to read and write cassettes at a speed of 3000 or 6000 baud without additional hardware. This was done by rewriting the cassette routines. I don't know if this is possible on the BBC? That sounds really interesting. Is there a description of how this works some...

Re: Bad Apple - 25fps video on the Beeb

It looks great and it is a lt easier to start than the beeb version, the Atom isn't so bad  ...because the Atom version isn't compressed, it is 10Mb of video and so needs 10Mb of SD card space to run. A beeb version like this would also look good and be easy to run. ;) Remember, the beeb v...

Re: Bad Apple - 25fps video on the Beeb

It'd actually be more interesting as a tape, I think — assuming you picked a data format that allowed a user to rewind and fast-forward the tape at will. Then you've invented a new format of video tape. A single 10-bit blob of high tone to mark frames should be enough? I generated a few different t...

Re: Bad Apple - 25fps video on the Beeb

For an extreme conversion, I wonder what it would be possible to do with sufficient compression and buffering, loading from tape on the beeb...? At 1200 baud / 150 bytes/sec, that'd be about 1 compressed 78x60 MODE7 frame per sec, using my compression above. But with a reduced frame size, some addit...
