Re: BBC Model B takes up smoking

How long could a BBC PSU capacitor hold a charge for? When I did the ones in my Master I left it turned off for a day, flicked switch on and off etc. I'm still very wary of working on electronics.

Re: Using BBC BASIC to teach programming concepts in 2017

Do you guys think Britain could ever lead the world in computer tech, as once we apparently did? W probably could if we grabbed a nice again but it would probably have to be just one part of the whole puzzle these days. That horse has long bolted! Grown up, died, etc etc. :D The whole forced teachi...

Re: Which gadgets and computers do you remember from school?

I can't remember having computers at infant school, but they had a telly that got wheeled out for Basil Brush  (When TV stations showed school programs on a morning) At juniors there was two BBC micros for the whole school, and one became a Master the year I left. Seniors had A3000s in first ye...

Re: Commodore 64 PSU replacement

I just got a C128 and sadly the coiled spring thingy (It looks like a large polo mint wrapped with copper wire) inside the PSU has busted loose. Whats the best way of fixing it? :?: :?:

Re: Have I just ruined my RiscPC motherboard?

I always found those battery connectors really tough to unsolder. It's a lot easier just to clip the battery off with snips, and solder a replacement to the pins sticking out.

I don't think Sir Clive ever claimed to be a businessman, he was always an inventor first and foremost. A total legend, we should have a statue built for him. That book has always had a reputation of being a tabloid style hatchet job.

I wouldn't wipe my arse with the pages from it.

Re: Palettemate / enhanced video ULA with 4096 colours

Since I have to rely on other people to do the desoldering/soldering work for me, what would be the best way to desolder the VideoULA in a B+ 128K? I've successfully removed the original ULA from five of my machines now and, in each case, I've used a desoldering pump (mine has a flexible tip that i...

Okay. Lets take this to the next level... Classic cars: How many have the original engine lubrication oil? How many have the original brake pads? How many have the original battery? How many have the original light bulbs? Mark You can get new car batteries that look like old ones, and also alternat...
