Re: Who's got the most souped-up BBC?

I've always been very wary around CRTs. I have a lovely old black Sinclair CUB monitor but it suffers from terrible arcing, going crack! now and then. We had the back off the first time it happened, adjusting the picture. Scary stuff. It was quickly retired for a gba-8220.

That was on a real A5000 and split screen. I wish I had kept that 33mhz A5000 it was a proper beast.

Re: Stunt Racer 2000 frame rate

That sounds strange as I thought it was too fast on the A5000 compared to playing it on the A3010. I'm sure in the options it told you what ARM it was running.

Re: Ultimate Power Supply

I'll see if I can hunt it out this weekend :) I've owned it from new. My Mam and Dad got me it from a computer shop in the lakes somewhere (cost a fortune, the most we had ever spent on a computer part), I can't remember quite remember where. It had an IBM 2.5" around 200mb that's like the thic...

I think its a shame that Pi3 RISC OS set up is still iffy. It's a great opportunity for RISC OS with the huge numbers of Pis out there now.

Re: Master 512 DOS Plus XIOS disassembly

So with this, it's possible to have the latest version of the 512 boot disc? I managed to get a later version but I don't think its the '87 one. With the early one various programs don't run etc.

Re: Saloon Cars on RISCOS 3

That is excellent! I still love and play a lot of modern racing games and Saloon Cars still had features that you don't see now. Some of the damage, overheating, pit stops etc. I remember when in a knackered Astra you had to drop down gears for hills  Great game, one of the Acorn classics.

I played the guts out of this on my A3010 with original discs. Deluxe version and also the extra courses. I wonder if anyone ever made the wheel and peddles which were in the manual.

How about a new board that could fit into an original case and use the keyboard connector etc. This would be a good way of getting BBCs with faulty boards etc back to life.

Re: BBC MASTER 128 - cannot run this code

Less likely to be the RAM, that would give more generalised errors. then you could try cooling the SRAM IC or if the computer hangs, the System VIA with some butane from a cigarette lighter refill. If operation improves then that might be the bad IC. Don't put enough on to cause frost though. What ...
