Re: Abersoft Forth and Turbo MMC

The ROM says mmc and has a red dot on the label. It will be a few years old. Are you able to try the appropriate TurboMMC-hardware-compatible version of the MMFS ROM (instead of the TurboMMC ROM you've currently got installed)?: https://github.com/hoglet67/MMFS/wiki/Release-structure No guarantees,...

Re: Best 16K commercial games ?

Having trawled some old magazines (mainly from 1982 and early 1983, as Model A games tend to fade away after this point), and checking the STH Cover scan archive, I have come up with this list... Wow, that's quite a list! Let's hope some of those rare Model A games turn up somewhere. Level 9: Model...

Re: Wanted: Alpine Software titles for public release

In the case of the ALPS support disc however, it can be bundled along with ALPS and released as a complete download at a later date when it's fully archived. Please feel free to ignore my questions if you find them irritating, but do you have a rough idea when that might be? Or, if the ALPS Support...

Re: Beebug Pyramid Patience faulty

It'll run on a Model B at &A00 though! See attached prototype. I used the compressed version of $.PYR. I also loaded the relevant char definitions at &900, and redirected the OS lookups for chars 128-159 and 224-255 to &900 by storing the integer value 9 in memory locations &36B and ...

Re: Beebug Pyramid Patience faulty

The game doesn't work on a Model B even if you compress $.PYR with PRES ABE's Pack routine and download it to &E00.

I think the main prog needs more RAM than a Model B has available for BASIC programs. See line 120 of $.PYR, which switches to MODE 129.

Re: Tree of Knowledge loading programs

The Acornsoft loading screen data is stored in memory starting at TOP, which is the memory location that immediately follows the last byte of the BASIC loader program. Because you increased the size of the BASIC program (albeit only by one byte), by changing E00 to 1400, you made the BASIC program o...

Any specific settings i should be using when scanning? It's a little A5-ish size booklet. If you're scanning monochrome (black and white) text -- and if you DON'T want high-resolution archive-quality scans -- then use your scanner's "Text" setting (image bit-depth = 1). And 300 dpi. If th...

Well, CJE have come up trumps! They found an old Archimedes ALPS package when looking for something else, so I've been able to buy this from them.
