Albert's House (Game wanted) BBC Micro/Master

Postby Albert'sHouse » Fri Jun 12, 2009 9:03 pm

I'm looking for information on a BBC Micro or Master game called Albert's House where you have to save a mouse called Albert from a cat. It was a children's game from the 80s or 90s that I played at school and I'm looking to get hold of a copy to play again. It has been released in an updated format for the PC. If anyone could provide me with any information on the game I'd be very grateful.

I already have the PC version. I'm looking for the Micro/Master version.

Thank you anyway.

Here's the AH disc image that Andrew Skipper (username: vbbc) sent me two years ago (oops) ... haven't tested it but hopefully you'll get some mileage out of it! :)

Thank you so much.

This trounces the PC version.

You've made the child in me very happy.

Game seems to crash part way in.

Might just be the emulator I'm using though.

Working now. Must just have been an issue with my emulator.

I've been looking for this game for ages. I thought it was called Cat and Mouse or something but I'm so happy I found it.
I know this is a very old board but I'm having problems with the game where it crashes after 4 or 5 screens (specifically moving away from the stairs)
I've tried two different emulators and get the same result. Can anyone help?

If you're using the .ADL disc image, then you'll have to go to the Hardware menu in BeebEm, select "BBC Master 128", load the disc, and then type in the command *ADFS before booting the disc with Shift-Break.

If you're using the .SSD disc image, then you'll need to make sure that Watford Electronics DFS 1.44 is installed. The Watford DFS can store up to 62 files on a single .SSD (which is more than Acorn's standard DFS). See the Hardware menu in BeebEm and try switching to "Model B Plus" or to "Model B Plus Integra-B" to see if the Watford DFS is installed by default for one of those emulated machines. If you can't find a machine with a pre-installed Watford DFS, then you'll have to edit the ROM configuration for the Model B or the Model B Plus (or the Model B Plus Integra-B) to install the Watford DFS ROM yourself.

This image was created from an original disk I have.
I haven't compared the contents of the disks.
Only has 31 files, so no need to use Watford DFS.
Don't know if it crashes later on...

Thanks Lurkio

Changing the BeebEm to Model B Plus Integra-B made everything work great. So many great memories came back
