Here is something usefull i wrote on a Solinet discs :D =-

To you Repton3 lovers here is how to convert Electron screens to the BBC version.

First load in the BBC editor, and save a file called 'CHARS', when you have done this press 'CTRL-BREAK'. Now type '*L. CHAR 1100' '*SAVE CHAR 1F20+1800 0 0'

When you have done this you will have all the characters of the Repton3 game.

Now load in the Repton3 file, like
'*L. PRELUDE 1100'

This will now have all of the Repton3 screen's. Now type
'*L. CHAR 1F20' '*SAVE PRELUDE 1100+2620 0 31E0

Now this file 'PRELUDE' will be able to load into the Repton3 game. The characters will be the right hight and the screen's will be as usual.

If you wanted BBC screen's onto Electron format, then do the same but load in Electron editor, and change to '*SAVE PRELUDE 1100+1E20 0 31E0'

Hope this comes in handy for some people!!?

=- This is also handy for playing other Repton3s like Life Of Repton etc, so u can play the new screens, but with the old Rep3 characters!!!

If u want to use it on a Emulator, use ModelB, as the other dont save discs properly. Remember to go back to drive 0/2,1/3 and Save disc! Or u will have to do all the typing again. CM 8)

hi AJW, the electron screens are not full screen, like in a box on the right, on the left theres lives/diamonds etc still to collect.

The BBC Micro and Electron screen designs are identical. The only difference is the size of the sprites, which are smaller on the Acorn Electron version.

I found the disc i made, so here it is for all you HARDCORE fans like myself:-

EDIT dead link

You can use shift-brk to load. Try and play LifeOfRepton, get stuck, and load up the original chrs with L BABY, and you have a new load of beeb screen in your favourite classic chrs!

Still getting stuck? CH."cheat" !

Happy gaming :D

This sounds very handy, as I can never remember which character represents what in the other Repton3 editions. Will give it a go tonight ...!

Cheers

Matt
