I have one in a box that looks as good as that.

Having said that...

Collectors going for near perfect cardboard boxes maybe?

Having said that, I reckon prices of items like these rise on the approach of Winter...

I believe I have several copies of Elite and varying versions. Unfortunately for yourself, I was PM'd seconds after my post with a potential offer to take everything off my hands. I've yet to follow that up beyond acknowledging them, as I've not been home enough to find/photograph everything.

I hope you get more than a tenner for some versions - this one went for £87!

Did I mention £87?

Yes, when put like that it makes one wonder. :?:

My A3000 cost £16 and came with an external 20Mb SCSI HDD. I added a 4Mb upgrade for about £15 and a Castle IDE podule for £25. A scrap A3000 bought for £5 from a charity stall provided a serial upgrade, an Econet interface and a replacement lid to the case. A new CMOS battery was about £3.50. The 350Mb HDD was salvaged from an old laptop computer.

So a fully working 4Mb A3000 with 350Mb internal HDD, serial interface, Econet interface, external 20Mb Worra Winnie, mouse and new CMOS battery cost me £64.50. I reckon it should be worth at least £645.

I want a spare BBC B to do some hardware prototyping on, so I don't risk nuking the Master I've had since childhood. Right now, it seems like every BBC Micro on eBay is lolprice. )-8

Still, I guess it'll be an appreciating asset if I somehow avoid frying it...

Wait until after Xmas. Prices drop around then. Seriously though, I think the days of easily picking one up for 20 or 30 quid have gone :(

That looks like a pretty esoteric educational program to me.

These days writing games software is like shooting a movie, with a cast of thousands. It's a shame, because the investment is so high that the companies that publish games only produce mass market stuff (just like formulaic Hollywood movies). So the more off beat ideas never see the light of day. Not that I want to play WWW, of course!

Huh? I wonder why that would be. It's not like people are buying one another BBC Bs for Christmas, nor will people be selling them as unwanted gifts in January!

Strangely they do seem to peak around now... After Xmas people have less money to spend so they don't tend to go as high...

I think it may also be related to people having more time to browse and think, "I had one of those" / "I wish I had one of those", back in the 1980s, and then bidding on / buying one on eBay.

Then in January, it's back to work.

And a bit of the "Oh go on, it's Christmas, I'll treat myself to the present nobody else will ever give me" factor nudging people to higher bids than the rest of the year.

As I've allowed to become apparent, I'm pretty new at this game, but surely this is LOLPRICE? £175 for a Slogger Electron ROM box?

It's certainly in the LOL zone! No one's stumped up for it at that price yet (I think it's been there a while) , which gives it extra lol quality. :)

I keep seeing this when I browse vintage computers sorted as nearest first; it's about 25 miles away from me:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Amstrad-Alt- ... 2729331488

Every single time I see it, I'm totally baffled by it. At the time of writing, someone else is selling two for £100.
