So my R140 started flashing an error code on startup, but generally seemed to work ok after the post code had finished. Decoding the error code gives "Long RAM test failure".
So I put a set of Test roms in to run the memory test. Looks to me like D29 is broken:-
In the A440 each memory chip is one bit of the 32 bit bus.
So my plan is to replace IC84 at the weekend at the ABUG meet. (Or at least desolder it, as I don't have a replacement).
Does that all make sense, and does anyone going to the ABUG meet have a spare KM41C1000P-12 (1Mx1bit) or equivalent they can bring.
Arc/RPCs, peripherals, RISCOS operating system & ARM kit eg GP2x, BeagleBoard

Thanks to flynnjs for desoldering the defective chip at the Abug meet at the weeknd. I ordered a replacement chip on Sunday evening, which arrived today. The machine now happily runs the Test Roms memory test with no errors. It now runs RO 3.11 again without flashing any POST code.
