A3020 Econet

Postby derek » Mon Mar 12, 2018 10:16 pm

Hi,

I have fitted an Econet board to my A3020, see:

I have never used Econet, is this only networking to Acorn machines?
Regards,

Derek

Hi Derek,

Econet is an intoxicating bit of Acorn magic, so you’re in for a treat! You’ll need another Acorn computer (of more or less any type) for your A3020 to talk to though. You can learn all about the wonders of Econet at some lovely websites put together by folk on this forum:

http://www.beebmaster.co.uk/Econet/IWantanEconet.html

http://www.heyrick.co.uk/econet/index.html

http://chrisacorns.computinghistory.org.uk/Network/Econet.html

And this forum is full of Econet experts, so I’m sure that if you have more questions then you’ll be able to get assistance here.
Enjoy!

To answer that bit of the question, no: ARM-based machines offer Ethernet as an alternative. (And a few other more esoteric options.)
