Fixing up a ST506

Postby vectorlight » Thu Mar 22, 2018 7:47 am

Hi All,

I want to see if it is possible to get an old Rodime ST506 drive working. Currently when turned on the disc spins up but after a few seconds the head makes a load noise and the drive just shuts down. Is there any recommended guides for fixing up one of these drives or shall I just throw it away?

Sounds like the platters/heads have crashed from your description, not sure what sort of noise it makes hard to make out from your message.
