Head magnifiers with lamp

Postby KarateEd » Tue Apr 24, 2018 2:12 pm

Hi Folks,

What do people use to help them with soldering? I'm thinking of head lamp magnifiers to see the work more easily. I'm sure some of my work that's not quite up to par is just because I can't see it well enough and I'm probably going to start a project or 2 in a bit and am wondering what people find the most useful or most popular.

Thanks,

Ed...... :-)

I use a extendable lamp that has a large magnifying glass.
Like this one (but I can't remember where I got mine from).

Something like this would do . . . It looks a little sturdier than the one I currently use.

I use a Rolson 2 LED magnifier from Amazon. It has 4 lenses, any two of which may be flipped into place.

Absolutely brilliant! :D

Why do I keep collecting Acorn gear? I'm going to need a considerably bigger man-cave. :?

I’ve been using one of these (from amazon, though likely available from other vendors) lately:

Fancii magnifier

it’s quite effective, and I can wear the thing with glasses, but I have to get close to the work piece to get focus - I actually prefer using a magnifier lamp like the one 1024MAK showed.

danielj recommended a headset here http://www.stardot.org.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=12884&hilit=vectorlight+a3010&start=30#p174261 which looks good, and perhaps lighter than the one I’ve been using - I may try one of these myself ......
