Odd Message; Tube On! with SD Card/MMFS/PiTubeDirect

Postby sfdNut » Thu Jul 20, 2017 4:54 pm

Hi All;

This was working before (i.e. yesterday) and today it doesn't.
BBC Micro Issue 7 board + SD Card (SirMorris) + MMFS + PiTubeDirect(Diamondback) on Pi Zero with Interface board from Kjell

Yesterday got the tube running and was able to run the BBC.MMB games disk without issue.

Today however when I type "*EXEC!BOOT!" I get:
*TV255
*MENU

Tube on!
>

and that's it!
Can ayone shed a light as to what is going on?
Removing the PiTube resolves the problem

Cheers

Simon

The menu software is incompatilble with a second processor so it checks if something is on the tube and exits with "Tube on!" if it detects a second processor.

Fair enough, so you can't play Tube Elite with this menu system?

I need a tutorial on how to use SD cards on a BBC system ...

Thanks

You can't use the menu system to play tube elite but it's on disc 45 (I think) so try the following:

Code: Select all

*DIN 45
*TUBEELT

This will run the game. It would be a good idea to mount a blank disk image in drive 1 to store save games:

Code: Select all

*DNEW 1

You should be informed which disk is being used - make a note of it for future reference and next time insert it using:

Code: Select all

*DIN 1 disknumber

I'm not sure which version you are using but here is a link to the manual for the original MMBEEB ROM which most others seem to be based on:

MMBEEB manual
