Well, Fusion '08 was good, Byte Back '09 was great ... and now we're only a couple of months away from the first of this year's Retro Computer Museum events. The event takes place Sunday May 31st 2009 at Swannington Institute (which is near Coalville in Leicestershire), runs from 10:30am - 5:30pm and is being organised by Andy Spencer & crew. Adult tickets are priced at just £4.50 (if purchased before May 15th) whilst the cost for kids under 16 is £1.00 per ticket. Entrance for under 5's is free. BBC/Electron Homebrew Specialists Retro Software have already been assigned a table and Andy will have other Acorn micros on display (such as the BBC Micro, Electron and Atom); all of which will be fully-loaded with games! So if you'd like to come along, don't hang around - please use the Paypal 'Donate' facility on the RCM homepage to order your ticket(s) asap! Of course, there'll be zillions of other computers/consoles at the event; if you want more info about the other systems then you should keep an eye on this forum on the RCM Messageboard. And for photographs/feedback about last year's RCM Event, have a looksy here. Once again I'll be using this forum to record who will be attending from within our community, so if you buy ticket(s) for RCM please post in this thread to let me know. Cheers, Dave. Eventual Attendees:Arcadian (Dave Moore) Tom Walker Dave Footitt Woody.Cool (Duncan Woodward) AndyT31 (Andy Taylor) SirMorris (Charlie Robson) Zeem (Alex Taylor) StarshipUK (Steve Perry) Prime (Phill Harvey-Smith) Richard Gellman [BBC Micro Mailing List] Kish Tailor [BBC Micro Mailing List] AndyRCM (Andy Spencer) [Event Organiser!]

Just got back, had a good time as usual. The venue was a little smaller than other places, but Dave had still managed to secure us a "little room" we could use as a base, which was nice. Had a go on an some strange old systems as well as the usual assortment of Amstrad, Amiga, Vectrex, NeoGeo and Beebs! Met up with Dave, Tom, 'sirmorris' and Phil (?) off the mailing list I also picked my leads up, a nightshade poster, a copy of Zap, and some mountain panic posters. Well done Dave, a pint is in order at the July codefest Cheers Dave

I had an awesome time (like I usually do) It was a great event, lots of different and interesting machines as well as plenty of decent people. I did crap at the games decathlon (organised by Mat 'witchfinder') but there's no surprise there ... none of the games were 'my type of game' I went home with more than I came with ..... usually the way.
So yeah, all in all, a decent way to spend what would otherwise have been a boring Sunday.

Sure have! And to your left I believe that's Jason Fitzpatrick (of the Centre for Computing History) playing ZAP! and our very own 'sirmorris' (Charlie Robson) playing Mountain Panic on the right. Oh, and congrats to Tom Walker and Martin Barr for the Beeb w/ Sid chip 'invention' - a good number of visitors were truly gobsmacked by what they saw (and heard!). I really should have recorded some video, though ... The same BBC Master was also used to demonstrate White Light - Tom's new shootemup for the Beeb (and maybe one day the Electron too?). This game also made use of BeebSID (can I call it that?) ... incredible stuff!

I also took about 15 photos from the main room, but I think I'll post these to the RCM forum instead. Anyway, it was a nice little event and I had a great time - many thanks to AndyRCM for organising it, and to everybody from STH who came along!

It should be pointed out that the GoMMC Electron had a lot of help from Greg (over the phone!).
Also the SID BBC, the speakers there weren't actually plugged in, everyone was just imagining the music.

Edit: and for the benefit of anyone who doesn't know Tom (and therefore, isn't familiar with his dry sense of humour!) I thought I better clarify that his SID chip in a Beeb* was 100% genuine and for-real (as everybody at RCM will attest to!). * or rather, outside of a Beeb ... it's the little black box you can see at the front of the Master
