RCM are having another Open Day on the 15th November.

Venue is:-
The Institute, Main Street, Swannington, Coalville LE67 8QL
Date and Time:-
Sunday 15th November 2009 from 10.30am - 5.00pm
Ticket Prices:-
£4.50 for adults, £1.00 for children for pre-ticket sales
£6.00 for adults, £1.00 for children on the day ticket sales.

Tickets can be purchased either by clicking on our donate button on the front page of http://www.retrocomputermuseum.co.uk which will in turn take you to our Paypal account or on the day at the venue (at the higher cost). If you wish to pay by other means send a PM to 'AndyRCM'. The closing date for pre-ticket sales will be the end of October. We will send out the purchased tickets two weeks before the event.

Andy has very kindly offered us the same room we had last time (go here for pics) except this time he's assigned us the whole room.

THEREFORE in return, I hope we can reward Andy with a lot more than the poxy 6-7 ticket sales we managed to rack up between us last time!

This is how I'd /like/ to put the space to use:

- get another vast n' varied Econet network going, a la Acorn World

- include a gaming table, featuring MMC-powered BBC Micros, Electrons, Atoms plus a fully-loaded Arc + RISC PC

- the obligatory 'Retro Software' display.

After the last RCM quite a few people (that didn't go) later told me that they were waiting to see how many others from the forum and/or Mailing List expressed interest (i.e. not many) but after seeing the pictures etc, wished they'd gone.

Now there is NOTHING more infuriating than hearing this kind of thing! If you want an event to be a success then don't hang around, just BUY A TICKET asap and others will follow suit.

/Don't/ play a waiting game to see 'who else' is going, because if everyone were to take this approach then NO-ONE would come! ;)

Seeing as Andy has allocated us the space free of charge, I'd like to repay him by bringing at least TWENTY members along from the STH/RS Forums and Mailing List (and I'm not counting the likes of Woody.Cool, StarshipUK, BlackPanther etc in the 20 as they'll be going anyway!).

Edit: just bought my ticket ... who's next?

Edit 2: List of attendees from STH/BBC ML added (target is to get to 20!):

I think I can make that.

IME, Econet usually goes down well with enthusiasts but top props tend to be the rare stuff *or* Chuckie Egg / Granny's Garden.

How big's the room? :P

The Valiant Turtle someone was trying to sell here the other day might be a nice attraction.

Shall purchase said ticket either later today or over the weekend.

I'll make sure I "try" to get to this one, although it may be a couple of hours only etc but that's better than not going, plus well worth the small cost. :D

If I can get my Sun Sparc Classic working, shall I bring that for your UNIX table?

Unlikely to be me, alas - have just had it confirmed that it's Cheltenham races that weekend, and I'm pretty much nailed on to be working the Sunday there in some capacity. Hope I have better luck in getting to some more events in the New Year, though anything prior to June is a bit dicey. Meh.

Thanks for buying tickets guys!

I have now posted on our home page about how to buy tickets, for those of you that don't know, we have a button on our home page, right near the bottom of the page that says donate, this will take you to our paypal account, where you can pay for your ticket. If anybody needs any help with anything please do get in touch.

Andy

List of attendees added.

Samuel: you're closer to the event than I am! :) Btw, remember the cut-off date for advance/reduced-price ticket sales is end of Oct.

I would like to come, but I don't know whether I can yet... since it's just on a Sunday, it might be possible.

Trying to sell this to my wife now: Can you confirm that the MMC Beeb will have Chuckie Egg (or 'Ladders' as my three year old calls it) on it for him to play?

:D

I am going to this - the 7th and most likely last retro gaming event I am going to this year!

I will also have tickets for RV2010 available for sale at this - so please find/ask for me if you would like to buy one!

OK, just to confirm we're three adults and one child. We've got two adult tickets so far, and we'll be buying the rest on the door.

My ticket (and name badge lol) arrived a few days ago.

Have ensured I have most of the day free, so all being well (95%) I'll be attending, albeit it will be an afternoon only thing for me. :)
