Definitely interested in this, particularly as it's in Cambridge. Shame there aren't any actual details yet though.

No details on the site yet - but it could potentially be a really good, interesting event.

On the twitter feed it said spaces are limited. I'm not sure whether the event will be open to the public or not. Here's hoping!

Yes, a limited number of tickets will be on sale to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.

The current web page is a teaser. More details will be made public in the coming week or so.

Simon.

I see the website has now been updated with a few details, still no info on ticket pricing/availability though?

Tickets will be sold online via a link on the website. A maximum of 100 will be available. As it's a prestigious event with a limited number of tickets available, they will be priced accordingly.

I'm aiming to have tickets on sale at the end of the week. :)

I'm interested in attending and am wondering what time of day it'll be.

I also hope that the above doesn't translate to "prohibitively expensive". Potential attendees already have to consider their own travel costs from various parts of the country.

  • Presumably ARM isn't charging for venue hire.
  • Are the Chimera Events fees significant?
  • Are VIPs' travel/expenses sponsored by industry?
  • Is there time to consider doubling the numbers to 200?

- Presumably ARM isn't charging for venue hire.

Correct. ARM have generously offered us use of the venue free of charge, although that does not include other arrangements such as the catering etc.

- Are the Chimera Events fees significant?

Chimera Events are managing the project. It is for a voluntary organisation and everyone involved is donating time, energy and expertise (including Chimera) wherever possible.

- Are VIPs' travel/expenses sponsored by industry?

In many cases people are contributing out of their own pocket, although many VIPs are local to the area.

- Is there time to consider doubling the numbers to 200?

We are restricted by the size of venue, so this wouldn't really be possible.

Simon.

No problem. :) It is a tight timescale, but we're working hard to make it a very special day for everyone.

Ouch, £78 per ticket! Will have to pass on this one unfortunately! Will there be video or blogs of the event after the fact?

Well, due to a few moments of unjustifiable extravagance I bought my ticket! Anyone else?

Yeah, I was going to get the coach up to Cambridge, but that's just too rich for my blood I'm afraid.

Yes, this isn't your average retro meet. It is a premium event, but there will be lots to see and do on the day - food, drink and entertainment inclusive. Plus the guest list we have is unprecedented. :)

Just got my ticket!

Looking forward to it but would like to know what parking is like as I have to do 150miles each way on my bike! Hope the weather is good.

On a slightly different note I have just got my 2nd Domesday system fully working!

Only a few more bits of Acorn hardware to collect to finish the collection but ARM dev system is providing elusive along with a few other items!

Thanks Ian! :)

There's lots of parking in ARM's car park - right outside the front door.

Cracking event, and it's still going on now as I type.

I've tweeted some really cool pics via the Replay Events twitter stream (including a recreation of the iconic Atom promo photo from the 80s, plus one of Hermann Hauser playing Repton: The Lost Realms on the Electron!).

Many more pics (plus a bit of video) to follow soon, once we've got all this kit packed way and safely returned home.

Thanks to PaulV, Samwise, regregex and DaveFootitt, all of whom volunteered their time/kit to help put on a GREAT display in the exhibition area towards the back of the hall.

Did the AtoMMC behave itself, or did you end up not using it ?

Cheers.

Phill.

Ok, a near-enough complete set of photos from Beeb@30 have been added to the Replay Events facebook albums.

Enjoy (as there are some real crackers amongst that lot!)

Thoroughly enjoyable event. I'm worn out now. All my kit has been unloaded but not unpacked. Can't face that tonight [-X

It was great to put faces to so many names and share so many memories about the beebs.

Good times

Paul

Did you get to talk to Richard Russell and Sophie Wilson about your project? I noticed that you mentioned something about it on the Ubuntu UK mailing list - I'm assuming that it's you writing in this thread. It sounds like an interesting project to me, anyway.

Great day! Thanks to all who obviously put in so much effort organising getting kit there and setting it up.

Now then... what about the upcoming 25th anniversary of the Archimedes? Any VIPs invited to ReplayExpo 2012? (I can think of one person in particular who wouldn't be travelling too far.)

Sounds like the event was a great success.

Are there any videos (or audio recordings) of any of the talks?

I took some video but I've got to get round to processing it yet... That and 1. The battery died at one point, then I ran out of SD card storage, then it decided not to record a couple of pieces including very regrettably a fantastic piece to camera from Hermann Hauser about the Retro Software games he'd just played :(

Damn modern tech. All the Retro tech performed flawlessly :D

I guess though that there'll be an official video at some point as there were lots of cameras in use around the atrium recording the event.

Paul
