I tried in b-em and in jsbeeb.

The image Lee uploaded works in b-em. I've used it to take a screenshot.

One more disc that doesn't seem to work in jbeeb or b-em is Disc059-CurseOfTheMiddleKingdomD.ssd It loads the help OK, but when you press space for the final time to load the game, it says,

Code: Select all

Disc fault 18 at 00/00

Bad Program

I'm afraid the error occurs because the instructions needed to be downloaded to &E00 to run and call code at &F00 to execute and then I do a *DISK, *DRIVE0, *DIR $ and then *RUN to load the game.

BITD when loads of games came my way, I did not have time to stop and spend hours changing code, so the simplest way to make games work was carried out.
The game works under BeebEm but not b-em.

Funny, cause it only took about an hour to change the code to work from &1900 - so here it is.
It will need checking on every machine and emulator, but If this works OK for everyone, then I will add it to my Disc059.

Please let me know what you think.
regards,
Mick.

PS Please try the disc now. The files became corrupt using BeebEm when copying from the test disc to the image above - should now be OK.

Glad I was able to fix it.
I have now added the corrected version of "Curse" to Disc059 and re-posted it.
The (D) in the !BOOT menu has been replaced with the correct (STT) as you can save your position to tape.

Disc 110 reposted due to adding the latest (and correctest) version of Astroblaster.

Also discs 023, 091, 092, 095 and 096 reposted.

Disc 023 has had the tune file for Estra relocated from &E00 to &1E00 and no longer needs DTRAP.
The same for Snowball, Return To Eden and Lords Of Time on discs 092, 095 and 098 all thanks to Chet for providing the code.
Lastly, some minor alterations to the instructions for Adventures 1, 2 and 3 on discs 091 and 092 thanks to Lee providing the inlays.

regards,
Mick.

PS Discs 111 and 112 are both now complete and are just being tested for faults and spelling etc, so should get posted over the summer holidays.
Discs 113 and 114 are now in pre-production.

Disc 010 re-posted due to the inlay instructions for Neanderthal Man being added.
Still need full instructions for Alien Destroyers and Rubik Cube for this disc at some point.

Inlay requests thread updated accordingly.

Disc 092 reposted again due to a corrected version of The Seventh Star being added. The game now wipes the memory correctly when you type QUIT - whereas before, things got left behind enabling you to cheat next time.
A simple call to code at &AF4 shifts the original INIT file data (now stored in redundant space in the STAR1 file) from &B00 to &F00 everytime you quit - just as if the INIT filehad been loaded again at &F00 (which it can't due to downloading the main game to &E00).

Mick.

PS I have checked the other Acornsoft text adventures and they seem OK.
I Believe this was the only game written by this author, so hopefully there are no more problems like elsewhere.

Here it is... Disc 111.
Hopefully everything is OK.

Once again, another mixed bag of goodies for the summer of 2016.
Firstly there are some standard basic games like Skywalker, S.C.O.T.T. and Stratgegy 2.
Then there are the usual Micro User/Electron User/Acorn Computing games including Survive!, Splat! and Trio.
There is also the modified OS1.2 version of World Cup Manager by Cosma.
Also included is Zen. This is a massive game which has to save itself to disc, so some files have been left unlocked and you will need to write-enable the disc. The game will remind you of this during play. The game has been tested on a real BBC with Datacentre.
Palace of Death by Simon Wallace is a new find from the forum.
Gondor by Doctorsoft is taken from a disc copy.
Startrek is part of the R H Compendium by R H Software.
Poc-Man is part of the Classic Arcade Games compilation by Ganymede.
Lastly, Pandemonia by Jeffrey Cooke (who also wrote Templeton). This is taken from a image he himself posted on the forum. I have been able to amend some of the faults. I have got the game as good as I can get it and if anyone else (or the author) has any ideas, suggestions or amendments then I will re-post this game.

I still require a uef image of The Quest For Gondor (just to check everything is as it should be).

regards,
Mick.

EDIT: Disc re-posted due to *KEY issues with Zen, LazerChess, Pandemonia and Trio.

Hi all,
Thanks to Arcadian posting hundreds of discs, I have started to check them and found some of the games on his discs are better or complete versions of some of the copied games on mine.
As a result, I will be re-issueing some of my discs with the better versions of these games on.
I will post a note here explaining which disc has been re-submited and why,

regards,
Mick.

PS Games Disc 112 is nearing the end of testing and should be posted here in time for xmas.
With the amount of new games found on Arcadians discs that I did not have before, Disc 113 should be completed early in the new year and may be out before Easter 2017.

After checking through many many discs, I have found the original copies of many of my copied games and I have inserted missing data into the copies I had making them the best they can be.

I have re-posted several of my discs as a result.

Disc 032 - Correct filename and loading routine for Bouncing Bill (along with spelling etc).
Disc 047 - Correct instructions for Fruit Machine (featuring press ESCAPE to skip etc).
Disc 067 - Correct filenames and REM statements for Wilfred the Warlock.
Disc 079 - Correct REM statements for Phoenix.
Disc 080 - Correct version of Rabid Rider including filenames and keys.
Disc 081 - Correct version of Bomber including instruction/splash screen.
Disc 082 - Correct versions of Beebmaze and Reverse coins including REM statements.

Watch out for Disc 112 coming soon!

Once again, yet another mixed bag of goodies for xmas 2016.
Firstly there are some standard basic games like Rockfall, Balloons, Rock Pile, Minefield and Zark.
Then there are the usual Micro User/Electron User/Acorn Computing games including Doomrun, 3D-Maze and Catcher.
There is also Artemidorus which has had the missing screens from the missing DATA file created by myself. This is hopefully a temporary arrangement and once the original screens are found, then I will add them to this disc and re-post it.
Also included is The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole. This is a massive game which has graphical files on both sides of the disc. The game has been tested on a real BBC with Datacentre and needs DTRAP.
Invaders is part of the Classic Arcade Games compilation by Ganymede.
Division One '85 is a disc edit and should work fine. I have included a list of players and their initials as these need inputting at the start of the game.
Fishing is part of Triple Decker 4 from Alternative and now all games from all the Triple Deckers have now been included.
Fireman is part of the Games Compendium by Salamander.
Draughts is a Micro Power game that I had not collected until now.
2 other games include Empire by Shards and Shuttle by Molimerx.
Lastly, Blokkendoos by JBF allows you to save/load your score to/from disc.

Division One '85 is a disc edit and will be re-posted once a compressed version becomes available.

regards,
Mick.

EDIT: Disc re-posted due to *KEY issues with Blokkendoos.

BTW How is Phoenix coming on.

I haven't done anything on it for quite a while now.
I'm still annoyed at myself for not requiring the drawing code completely as now there is flicker at the top of the screen.
I'll try and make an effort over the holidays if not before.

Tennis is part of the Classic Arcade Games compilation by Ganymede.

Re: 30th Anniversary BBC and Electron Collection

*KEY corruption in High Score tables or when asked questions.
It has come to my attnetion that some games feature either *KEY OLD RUN commands or store new code at &B00 making the function keys do all sorts of weird things when pressed on certain games.

Not all games are affected and some have *FX225 (or LDA #&E1) commands added by the author to prevent this.

I am currently in the process of going through every game in the collection and correcting this problem.
This means playing each game and getting to the high score table to see what happens or adding a prevention fix if I cannot get to the high score table (only to games that load code over &B00).

Some games have had the following done to them...

1) *FX225 command adding to the basic loader.
2) LDA #&E1 adding to the downloader in the final part.
3) Removal of *KEY 0 OLD RUN command and alternative coding used instead.
4) Removal of *KEY 0 *LOAD (filename) and better coding used instead.

I will re-post my discs in blocks of 10 and add a post here (at the end) as each set is re-posted.
The names of the games affected will be included with each re-posted disc.

Hopefully, this will sort the problem and make playing the games an even better enjoyment.

Discs 001-010 have now been re-posted.

If anyone has any problems with them or with any of the other games then please let me know so I can sort them.

Regards,
Mick.

PS Isn't it a shame that some software companies didn't check for this at the time of release (as the fix has been included in some games, so some authors must have been aware).

PS New complete working version of F14 Tomcat added to Disc 050. It needs DTRAP with a Datacentre, and re-activates the disc drive to load all its levels. As a result, some games have been moved around the disc but nothing has been removed as a result.

Hi Mick,

Could you give a link to download the latest versions, thanks, I'm not sure where they are posted - also do the disks have any method of identifing their version - like a date or number in the catalog?

Actually do you think it would be possible to just zip the whole lot up into a single file and just update that as you improve them?

It would be about 14MB in size - nothing these days!

Thanks
PJ

Hi PJ

Sorry about all the re-posts.

As it is, all the corrected discs are contained within the many pages of this topic.
I have included a new post (which should be the last thing you see) each time a disc has been amended to alert everyone to the changes.

Not sure as well if you can see the "last edited by" bit at the bottom of each post that I get, or if that is just something the author of the post gets to see. If you can see it, then this should also be an indication of when it was re-posted. If not then in furture I will put the date in the "EDIT" paragraph.

At the moment, all my discs are being re-posted due to the *FX225 issues with some games using *KEY commands that cause a mess or crash a game when pressed during the high score or game. This should be completed by the end of March (just in time for disc 114!).

Hopefully, after this, the only time any of my discs will be re-posted is when inlay instructions or missing loading screens are found.

regards,
Mick.

Hi Mick.
I was going to nominate Hyper Sports for the high score challenge but it crashes after completing the long horse event with a black screen and 'Not found' followed by 'Bad Program' and a > prompt.
