MacBeebEm Y2K issue

Postby mjf2708 » Tue Jul 04, 2017 10:35 am

Hi,

I don't know if this has been raised before (couldn't find it), but MacBeebEm (I'm using ver 4.0a) has a Y2K issue.

If I type *TIME I get (e.g.):

Code: Select all

Tue,04 Jul 19A7.11:02:27

I can apply Andrew Benham's patch (http://www.adsb.co.uk/bbc/bbc_master.html) to the Terminal ROM, and then I get:

Code: Select all

Tue,04 Jul 20A7.11:02:27

but the decade remains at 'A'.

Has anyone found a solution / patch for this?

Mike

I should think that '1997' is the correct response, i.e. emulates a real Master exactly, but obviously '19A7' is a bug. Checked mac version and yes I get 19A7 as well, and windows get 1997 as you would expect.

B2 on Mac gives '1997'

Yes, I get '1997' on b2 too (and '2017' with patched Terminal ROM in b2).

Hello Jon,

Have you had a chance to update this yet?

Hi,

Uploaded the patched version to my web site.

Download from :

http://www.g7jjf.com/download.htm

I no longer have a Mac so development is being done under emulation. If you have a Mac Mini going spare which will run 10.6.8 and the latest 10.12.3, please get in touch if you want to sell it.

Fraid no Mac going spare (unless I win the lottery), but, I think as i mentioned before, if you need it compiled on latest version of xcode on Sierra then I can do that with a few instructions (I find xcode isnt the easier progrma to just pickup and use every now and again).

I also have Sierra running under emulation but the source doesn't compile due to missing libraries and other stuff. Don't have time at the moment to sort this out but currently looking at getting an old Windows laptop running Snow Leopard rather than buy a mac mini.
