Atoms ahoy on HACKADAY!

Postby sirmorris » Tue Aug 29, 2017 6:07 am

It's always a pleasure to see a pre-reset Atom garbage screen on't t'interwebs over breakfast. Well done Hoglet!

P.S. Where do the black ices come from?

Here's the link to the development thread on the myStorm forums:
https://forum.mystorm.uk/t/acorn-atom-i ... ackice/228

Now, I need to make a version of SDDOS 2.x that works with SDHC cards (as all microsd cards are SDHC I think).

This should just be a case of porting the card initialisation code from MMFS to SDDOS:
https://github.com/hoglet67/AtomFpga/bl ... d.inc#L309

I'll try to free some space by dropping the 6522 code (the fpga builds just use the memory mapped SPI interface).

If your AtoMMC code is still based on my AVR code, you could try upgrading the version of FATFS it uses, I upgraded DragonMMC to use 0.09 (I believe) and that seems to work fine with SDHC cards, must try it with a couple of SDXC cards before release (which is imminent).

Cheers.

Phill.

Well done Dave - fame at last! No, hang on, I think you might already be famous.

(The BlackIce boards are £42 incl UK shipping.)

I use a micro 8 GB SDHC card in my Atom 2014 and I never noticed any problems with SDDOS. I don't use it often but I do remember that I mounted some CP/M and Flex images when playing with the matchbox copro.

Hi

The BlackIce FPGA board is available from me.

Please follow this link to the forum announcement for pricing etc.

Thanks for the suggestion, but currently this is not actually using AtoMMC2 (AVR or PIC).

It's based on Charilie's original non-PIC work, an d using SDDOS2 with a raw SD card image rather than any kind of FAT file system.

It might be possible to port AtoMMC so it could run on the ARM microcontroller, but I've not done that yet.

That's probably SDDOS 3, where the SD Card initialization is done by the PIC.

This is altogether simpler, and the initialization is done by SDDOS 2 (see earlier githib link).

HI Kees,

In case it's of any use to you in any other projects you are working on...

I've added SDHC support to SDROM 2.x:
https://github.com/hoglet67/AtomFpga/co ... e9f49ca712

Then in testing I discovered a lot of zero page memory conflicts between SDROM 2.x and the archive Menu program, so I fixed these in the archive MENU:
https://github.com/hoglet67/AtomSoftwar ... e50d117ced

I've uploaded a binary release (V10BETA3) to github:
https://github.com/hoglet67/AtomSoftwar ... e/releases

And here's the evidence it all actually works:
