Atom 5V DC regulated power supplies

Postby Graeme Roberts » Wed Mar 28, 2018 7:41 pm

All,

Curious to know which regulated 5V DC power supplies you're using to feed your Atoms, assuming you've made the conversion from 8V internal regulated to 5V external.

Attached are a couple of pictures of the PSU's I've used. The first is a variable voltage universal wall wart supplying 1500mA.

While the second is the Cisco / Lite-On PE1170 which supplies 5V at 3000mA using a 5.5 x 2.1 mm jack.

This particular PSU is common on eBay as it's used to power Virgin HD boxes but delivers enough juice to support a fully loaded Atom.

Interested to know what you use to power your machine.

Graeme.

Those wall warts with the twisty-screwdrivery thing for varying the voltage say they're regulated, but I'm pretty skeptical!

Hi,

It read 4.93V on my multi meter at the tip, so I decided to give it a go

The Cisco PSU is slightly 'hotter' at 5.35V, but again powers the Atom with no problems.

I'm using an USB 5V 2A power supply.
With all these modern addons, the power consumption is a lot lower than the original Atom with the 2114's.

Greetings
