should be able to get a drive easily enough. on a ii, a superserial and ADTPro are possibly the best ways to go to get stuff running on it. Nice repair !

ps i can highly recommend Steve Wozniak's book iWoz. Entertaining, insightful, etc :)

Shout!

Well, it’s not quite a #1 drive but its a drive! If you are looking to make yours a two disc system (a must for many things - far less disc swapping) let me know. This one seems to be working (only arrived today - it has booted Prince of Persia ok and formatted a disc) and is spare. There are a few little paint splats on it which will probably come off ok. Otherwise in very good condition. I have cleaned the read / write head and the guide rails as it was a little squeaky.
And it has the funky multi-coloured ribbon cable. Nice! 8)

I paid £29 with p&p - am happy to send it on for £29 including p&p. It came with a disc interface card which is prob worth £15 so I get a spare card out of it.

Just following through this now I'm playing the AppleII game - you don't need a superserial, although it does help, ADTPRO will work over the cassette port. I bootstrapped my system using:

http://asciiexpress.net/diskserver/

Which you can run from your phone or computer, and again, bootstrap it via the tape port. Works a treat :)

Meanwhile, I'm part-way through re-implementing the superserial. I'm just doing it from the original schematics, so we'll see how well it holds up :D

Excellent! I assume it works at normal cassette speed?

I was lucky to get a super serial card not long after my Apple.

It does a floppy disk in about 2 minutes, so it's no great hardship :)
