C64 breadbin repair

Postby sbadger » Thu Sep 07, 2017 12:22 pm

Hi there,

I've managed to pickup another breadbin for peanuts, great cosmetic conditionbut I bought it as dead so was fairly pleased when I received it and get screen ram errors.

Easy fix it seems.....

The problem I’m having is that if i remove the steel shield/heatsink it only boots to a black screen, put the shield back and i get the ram scrambling again. I guess possibly some sort of grounding or resistance problem but nothing is immediately obvious. The shield doesn't appear to touch any components, only the outer edge of the mobo.

Any ideas anyone?

thanks
Stew
