A marginal improvement. Three times I've got to this level and lost my last life on it now.

Hmmm, still trying to work out some of the screens and not having a good run leading up to the one's I'm getting stuck on. No where near the top scorers yet.

Score: 88810

Also occasionally getting BeebEm crashing, anyone else seen this or know how to resolve it? It's a bugger when it happens at a latter stage :?

Yes, I've had this too. Whenever I achieve a high score, after my last guy has passed from this world, I save that state. It's because I've seen that problem a few times. It's not the only problem, sometimes the screen freezes when it's in demo mode. It's not ideal but it is there so we have to live with it. Does this happen on real hardware?

I'm going to put the game on my real Beeb and see if it comes up, either of these issues.

I think it was cool that the author paid homage to the Canadian Flag way back when....Check under the eyes, doesn't that 'resemble' the Canadian Flag?

Not bad  - just gave it another go, but only got as far as the incredibly annoying Spam Sandwiches level this time. I'll get there in the end...

Ok, starting to find a way through my mental roadblock and have smashed through the 100k mark, hoping to push higher with some better luck.

I haven't seen this happen on my Beeb. I could try to investigate if there's a bug in BeebEm ... a save state file just before it crashes would be helpful if you have one.

My new high score: 63,960.

A bit of an improvement, more by fluke than skill! the "Sort this one out" level is my achillies heel pretty much every game !

Stay on the right hand side of the first moving thing to give yourself the best chance to switch to the second moving thing. Follow the second one back when it turns to go left, and again when it turns to go right, walking onto the land. You can skip the final bridge in the level by dropping right off the platform underneath the lift :)

I managed to complete the whole game - with 3 lives remaining :) The game just restarts after that point, with no difficulty increase. I nearly managed to complete it again - got as far as Spam Sandwiches the second time round (I hate that level).

This is probably all from me on this game... I love it, though.

Many thanks for this hopefully will improve with more goes, never even noticed the short cut, thanks for that, I found a couple of other ones, the next level Eleventh Heaven you can drop straight down to the platform below and then move to the exit, same with Lead Pipes Rule OK, there is a short cut there too.

I've been past 'Sick as a Parrot' a few times but there's no real consistency for me. Often I get to that level and boom, it's all gone. Is there a 'timing' thing for that level or is it just where the ball is before you drop down to the floor to escape getting blown up?

Walk off the top when the ball's at the bottom left of its area.

Thanks Jools...... it happens fast enough that I just couldn't remember how I was successful a few times.

It is a great game, very under-rated in my view. I remember playing it a lot when it was first released. The authors, Kevin Blake and Jason Sobell used to attend the weekly BBC computer club in Washington, Tyne & Wear (it was originally at the Galleries then switched to Oxclose Community Centre, the move was rumoured to be because the Galleries were unhappy about the level of piracy going on - quite rightly, there was a lot !). I remember Kevin always seemed to wear a grey shirt and trousers like he'd just come in from the office). They were both very approachable and would show us demos of what they were working on. I also recall Gary Partis and Peter Johnson making the odd appearance as did Ian Waugh, the music guy, who did a lot of articles and reviews in the beeb magazines.
Maybe Bug-Eyes can feature in a future contest ?

Finally managed to complete the game, as usual the end of game is uninspiring, think this is about as far I will go with this one now.

Once you know how the levels can be completed, it makes the game a lot easier, the only problem being not making silly mistakes.

A great game, often forgetten about, one of the many Tynesoft/Art Crew quality games, for those who liked Vindaloo check out Space Agen Zelda meets the Bug Eyes, pretty much the same game but with different graphics!
