I think Roland and daniel must take the lions share of the credit here as I did nothing to help other than to keep out of the way!
Great job by the way!

Don't blame yourself

It was our first task and we didn't know the exact ins and outs. Now we're a bit older and wiser

I'm not sure about new features on the forum. When we had a look at the changes it looked like there were improvements for mobile devices.

Thanks Roland
Daniel, you mean you managed to keep away from the master controls:

That looks very like the button I'm going to use to break upgrade the OS. Shiny shiny...

Re: Forum software now updated to latest version
Thanks for the upgrade, all seems well....
On the subject I mentioned previously where within the mobile interface, it appears not to be possible to get to to the latest post in a topic without either logging-in or using a lot of juggling, I think I have found a satisfactory method. I don't actually think it's related to the upgrade and the sequence has probably always been there but anyway.....
Basically, you tap 'Quick links' > 'Active Topics' as always but when the list comes up and you see the thread you are interested in, you next tap the category of the thread and not the title - see pic 1. Next, you scroll down a little because the page you will see always seems to include 'Announcements' first but you will now also see the thread you are interested in within a 'Topics' section and there will be an explicit statement saying 'Last post by....". You finally click on the date portion of this statement - see pic 2 - and Voila! See pic 3
There's probably only me that cares but just in case.....
Now a question - Could the upgrade have made the real-time spell-checking during post writing disappear? I just don't see the red squigglies under mis-spelled words now
. It seems to be working as expected everywhere else, just not on Stardot anymore
. I'm using Win 7 and Chrome and it may be something amiss in these but there hasn't been anything going on config-wise on my computer as far as I know.

Re: Forum software now updated to latest version
I don't think that the latest update disabled the real time spell checking. Spell-checking is performed by the browser and IMHO it it not controlled by the website you're visiting.

If the "type" of boxes has changed, then that could be it. I seem to remember something about that when going through the changes...

Re: Forum software now updated to latest version
It's still a textarea:
Code: Select all
<textarea class="inputbox auto-resized" onfocus="initInsertions();" onkeyup="storeCaret(this);" onclick="storeCaret(this);" onselect="storeCaret(this);" tabindex="4" cols="76" rows="15" id="message" name="message" style="position: relative; height: 401px; resize: none;"></textarea>

Re: Forum software now updated to latest version
I get this which I think is the same as it always has been except no red squiggly...
As I said, happy to be told it's my kit, but thought I'd ask first...

Re: Forum software now updated to latest version
And another question...
When I log in and tick 'hide me', I now see my name appear in the active users whereas previously I was just one of the N hidden users. Is it just me that (now) sees my name or is the anonymous log-on (now) broken?
EDIT : It's not broken, just changed. You only, not others, now see your name (in italics) in the current registered users list when you log-in hidden.

Re: Forum software now updated to latest version
Yup - italics is how it denotes "hidden".

Re: Forum software now updated to latest version
So do you have a list of 'new tweaks' that affect the user interface? No worries if not, we'll learn on the job....
btw - Just posted this on an XP machine and the red spelling squigglies are back so either there's something in the new forum build that upsets Win 7/Chrome or my machine is having a hissy-fit. (I'll go with the latter for now although I haven't a scoobies what to do about it....

Re: Forum software now updated to latest version
Not 100% sure - but we went from 3.1.5 to 3.1.9 -> here's the changelog to 3.1.7 (they don't seem to have the 3.1.9 one!)
Sorry, that seems to be the complete changelog!
