Missing Adventure games

Postby leenew » Mon Oct 31, 2016 9:41 am

Hi,
I am trying to fill in some holes on the bbcmicro.co.uk site...
A "Complete BBC games archive" needs every game that is available to be on there, no matter how bad it is!
There are some games listed on the Classic Adventure Solution Archive which I can't find.

Could anyone provide me with a BBC micro or Electron version of any of the following games?

Dragon Adventure - William Stott
Enchanted Castle - Jon Ripley
Escape - Input Magazine Found! Thank you..
I.T. - Adventure of the century - (From "Brilliant games for your BBC Micro)
Journey to Freedom - Interface (From "Creating adventure programs on the BBC micro") ** Found! thank you...
Lost Kingdom - Jon Ripley Confirmed as not being a BBC release (But *was* written in BBC BASIC)
Neptune's Caverns - Watts Franklin Found! thank you

Personally, I think a couple of these were never released for the beeb, but I would be happy to be proven wrong.

Thanks,
Oh, and I will be adding to this list as I trawl through their archives...

Lee.

Are you sure you don't mean Dragon Adventure?

OK, a couple more:

The Pay-Off by Bignose software Found! thanks!
Purple crystal of the heavens AND Sacred Pyramid by Soft Rock Software - I have spoken to the author about these, and he says they were not released seperately, but were released on a disc titled "Escape from Exeria" which was released for the beeb and the Archie.
So if anyone can point me toward those, it would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Lee.

I think all the S.* files could be removed since they are just text files, chapters 1 to 13 of the Selladore Tales. W1S isn't required either. That would give you enough space in the catalogue to copy the files from the User disk. There are files called SCREEN on both disks, so that would need to be addressed too.

I will try to get time to look at Selladore a.s.a.p.
In the mean time, after having trawled through the "Classic Acventure Solution Archive" and all their listings for beeb Adventure games, I think it is these ones that we still require:

Dragon Adventure - William Stott
Enchanted Castle - Jon Ripley
Escape - Input Magazine Found. Thanks!
Purple crystal of the heavens AND Sacred Pyramid by Soft Rock Software - I have spoken to the author about these, and he says they were not released seperately, but were released on a disc titled "Escape from Exeria" which was released for the beeb and the Archie.
Vesposian Affair - Computer & Video Games year book 1984
Wings Of War - Salamander
Wonderland - Molimerx/Molymerx
Worst Witch - Sherston Found. Thanks!
Zillion - Sherston

**Plus all the ones on the normal MIA list! viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3437&hilit=record+known+releases&start=90#p140075

I think the other Sherston titles may also need tittivating, like Selladore?...)

^^ he he, I know, I know.
I *thought* both these would need tittivating.... But it seems Worst Witch is fixed :D
Just Zillion to sort...
Cheers BillC...

I could also provide the Spectrum listing of The Vespozian Affair as plain text. Should anyone be able to provide a scan of the magazine the required changes could easily be made.

Does anyone have a completeable copy of Island of Secrets (Usborne) for the beeb?
All versions I have tried have a fatal error that crashes the game after 5 or 6 moves! (Has no one ever played this in 30 years?!) INOUT should be INPUT....
That's an easy fix, but according to the walkthrough on CASA "If the log men throw you in the store room, open the trap door and go down". Well I can open the trapdoor, but the game says I cannot go in that direction when trying "GO DOWN".
I have quickly scanned the listing in the book and compared to what I have on the beeb but can't see any errors.
Any help would be appreciated...

Errors corrected on "Island of secrets" and the game can now be won.
It's a tough one - with some objects not appearing in the descriptions but only appearing in the drawings in the accompanying book!

Thanks to eagle-eyes Iamaran for spotting a couple of years-old bugs 8)
I will pass the new image to Paul for uploading with the rest of the games I recently sent him.

Hmmm... I had better check "The mystery of silver mountain now!"

Can anyone point me towards a working UEF, (or disc version) of "Mystery Of The Java Star" by Shards Software?
The UEF from STH is faulty. The "WITCH" file does not work.

Thanks in advance.

Lee.
**EDIT - FORGET THIS REQUEST - I have used the elk version as it is the same...
Still not convinced! so if anyone DOES have a beeb UEF of this, or a disc version (which is MIA), then DO let me know #-o

Dave Edwards has the original cassette in his collection:

He should also have the official hint sheet, as that was amongst a bundle of helpsheets I gave to him a couple of months back.

I'll try and get this tape imaged over Xmas...

For the time being, I've uploaded the game help sheet for this game to Everygamegoing so it's available on the above link now.
