Dug out the actual items from the person-cave this morning, and the compilation numbers are given as B1 and B3 on the respective cassettes, too.

I've got the odd bit more info. Statasoft was effectively one-man Surrey-based operation Ken Bailey, and he dropped TBGA a line in the late-2000s to confirm that all of his games were released across two cassettes rather than as separate entities.

253. Ken 1 (Statasoft)

is a three-game compilation containing Poker Dice, Darts and Pentominoes. I think these are already archived.

254. Ken 2 (Statasoft)

is a four-game compulation containing the archived Ludo, plus the trio of other missing games:

255. Match-Up (Statasoft)
256. Tables (Statasoft)
257. Tangrams (Statasoft)

I mention all of this in case anyone hasn't seen the updated Statasoft page on TBGA - as I say, we got this info many years after the rump of material was collated.

Yaig stands for Yet Another Invaders Game, and by the looks of it was released on the Archimedes series of machines:

I mailed Norwich Computer Services's generic contact address back when we were chasing titles for TBGA. Sadly that got lost when my laptop of the time died suddenly, but the gist of it was that the responder couldn't remember any of Norwich's titles having ever been released on the Beeb - just the RISC machines. Not an outright no, then, but a sort of qualified one.

Akom still exists as a computer compiler of crosswords to this very day. A quick sift through its website reveals Electron reviews of Times Vol 1-2, plus a hitherto unmentioned Jubilee Puzzles release, and a BBC review of Times Vol 1:

Wonder if Akom top bod David Akenhead would be worth dropping a line to?

That's all really interesting stuff Jeremy, thanks!
I will add extra comments to the list in the morning.
It would be great if you could dig the tape out.
And Yes! I think it would be a good idea to contact Mr. A.
Thanks
Lee.
I have sent a couple of MIA tapes to Col McDougall who is our resident UEF expert but I think he is away for a few days as I am getting no replies from him. ...

I've got this FSD'd. A quick look shows it's got unformatted tracks. I'm not sure whether it forms part of a protection system. I'll look into copying the files over to an SSD ASAP :)

As promised, and now I've been in the person-cave again, here's a glance at list item number 190, Dodgy Dealer by OI Consultants.

An interesting thing to note, and probably not discernible from my picture, is that the original intention might have been for Dodgy Dealer to be called Wealer Dealer - the word Wealer has been stickered over with Dodgy on both sides of the cassette inlay. Either that, or the labelling firm OIC used got it wrong initially.

I mention this only in case there is anything out there in archive-land under the name of Wealer Dealer which might be the same program in all other respects.

So... how to archive?

Hi there,
Hmmm... Well OIC have a game called "Wheeler Dealer". I wonder if this is the same game?
If you want to check then Wheeler dealer can be found here:

** somebody help me out! I can't find it from my phone
it's on my spreadsheet on Mick's discs! !

Ah, could well be Wheeler under the sticker rather than Wealer!

Wheeler Dealer would certainly make more sense, being (a) the actual spelling of the term in common parlance, (b) not - unlike Wealer Dealer - the name of a racehorse I was writing about the other day. Ah me...

Either way, not a wasted exercise, as we're closer to confirming that the two games are actually the same game under two separate titles. Wheeler Dealer does indeed exist in both the tape and disc archives on STH already.

Just wanted to mention that according to a magazine review from 1984, Discovery and Escape From Solaris were sold together, as a set, and it was the set that had the name Galaxy's Edge:

Both games were apparently the early work of interactive-fiction legend and victim of embarrassing photography Graham Nelson, creator of the text-adventure programming language Inform.

Will do, ta! Beeb not currently set up in the person-cave, but that's soon sorted out (I think I'm in there this evening).

If it's not the same game and needs archiving, then I'll need to forward the tape to someone - I still run off 100% original kit. No emulators. That's less to do with being purist and more with being too feckless to get them to work, incidentally... :-)

Super Adventure (Adventuresoft) has to be Masters of the Universe Terraquake. I think it was called "Super Adventure" to distinguish it from the arcade game that was released at the same time (not on the BBC though).

Just a quick note to mention three more games that might be MIA:

1. The Myth of Moby (Topologika)

2. Olympic Spectacular (Alternative Software / AS) [EDIT: This is possibly just Micro Olympics (Database Software) repackaged.]

3. Bladedancer (Omicron Technologies)

EDIT :

this does seem correct, going by 95% of their releases, just a re-release

Not seen Jonathan round here for a while... He ended the sale early on eBay.
Did one of us get it?

I've got this FSD'd. A quick look shows it's got unformatted tracks. I'm not sure whether it forms part of a protection system. I'll look into copying the files over to an SSD ASAP :)

Dis you ever get chance to look for this BillC?

I hadn't, but managed to take a look during my lunch hour. So here it is!
FWIW, I've also got Bug Byte Compilation 1 & 2, although as the list states, they're archived separately anyway.

I'd like to to see the actual compilation disc archived rather than the individual titles.

Your wish is granted!

Bug-Byte compilation disk
1. Tennis
2. Star Force Seven
3. Skyhawk
4. Plan B

Bug-Byte compilation disk II
1. Cricket
2. Hunkydory
3. Jack Attack
4. Ice Hockey

Bug-Byte compilation disk has 2 files, X and Y - Y containing Rob Northen and some code for OSWORD &7F calls. I think they can safely be deleted, but are left there for completeness sake.
Also Star Force Seven doesn't work, but i don't think the two things are related (didn't really check!)

Hi,
I think "Escape from Orion 2" from Hopesoft can be removed from the list.
Beebgames actually has a download for this game, and all it is is a slightly different version of Escape from Orion 1.
See the 2 attached SSDs (Made with BBC Explorer)
