Does anyone have any old games discs that they have transferred across as I would love to take a look at them as there may be some old games that we have forgot about lurking in them somewhere.

I myself had over 100 discs from 1984-1995.

If anyone is interested, I have been able to re-build some of these discs from the games in the archive (as I kept lists of all contents), and as of February 2011, I have so far been able to reconstruct Discs 001-035 as double sided 80 track games discs each containing 18 games.

However, I still have a long way to go and I am missing many smaller titles that were used to fill in gaps on later discs which contained massive games with loads of files.

Here is my emulated disc image of Games Disc 011 originally from the late spring of 1985.

These disks were designed for a BBC Model B with normal Acorn DFS and have been tested on Beebem in BBC Model B mode.

I hope you enjoy it.

At the moment all Files on this disc are from the uef tape images off the net except for Microcosm, Sabre Wulf and Jet Boat which were highly protected.
Also Cosmic Asteroids and Skyhawk are disc images as no tape image could be found of these.
Aqua Attack and The Sorcerer are disc copies (I believe they never existed on tape).

The Sound on Microcosm has been repaired (It sometimes didn't work, needed ?&91=1 added to loader program).

The high score table on Copter Capers is now displayed, it crashed on the STH disc image due to relocation problems. Also you can re-define the keys on this version.

Manic Miner has been tidied up to avoid mess on the screen. Also the Tape Protection Card system is fully removed.

It would be nice to get some feed back off anyone who remembers these games!

Enjoy!

I will post discs 012-020 soon!

Here is a re-issue of Games Disc 11 which has had the menu altered to work on both beebem and b-em and hopefully... A real Beeb!

Sorry about the error, now fixing the menus on discs 001-035.
Will post soon!

Mick.

I hope you enjoy it.

At the moment all Files on this disc are from the uef tape images off the net except for Night World, Geoff Capes and Space Invaders by Pro as no tape images could be found for these.
Also Knight Lore and Space Hi-Way are hybrids due to their tape protection.

Magic Mushrooms is the disc version and blank discs can be used to save and load edited screens.

I have included the instructions for Ultron by Icon. These were not on the tape version but from a pre-release. They are loaded if you select Y when asked for the music?

Bandit's at 3 o'clock (aka Dogfight) is the keyboard version.

It would be nice to get some feed back off anyone who remembers these games!

Enjoy!

I will post disc 013 soon!

I have now tested this disc on B-em v2.1a and all the games seem OK

Also Alien 8, Wizadore and Eagles Wing are hybrids due to their tape protection.

Nutcraka has been repaired and the computer no longer goes crazy when break is pressed.

The Loader screen for Flip! now displays all the correct info.

It would be nice to get some feed back off anyone who remembers these games!

Here is my emulated disc image of Games Disc 014 originally from the summer of 1985.

These discs were designed for a BBC Model B with normal Acorn DFS and have been tested only on Beebem in BBC Model B mode (I may have to issue seperate discs for B-Em Users when I get to check every game again - sorry!).

I hope you enjoy it.

At the moment all Files on this disc are from the uef tape images off the net except for Custard Pie Fight, Ant Killer, 3D-Tennis April Showers and Invasion Alert as no tape images could be found for these.
Also Deathstar Super Pool and Castle Quest are hybrids due to their tape protection.

Pengi has the key re-definer included and original loader screen.

Press Escape during the loading screen on Deathstar to skip.

Guardian is an Electron title (aka Defender) but works OK on the Beeb.

Castle Quest features the instructions from Castle Raider (pre-release title).

Invasion Alert is from a compilation called Games Galore 1 (never saw a Games Galore 2)???

The Evil Dead is the first game on my discs where both Ctrl+Break are needed after playing it (never found the code for this).

Hi-Bouncer features the main game from side 1 of the tape and the practice games from side 2. Choose which game in the instructions section.

It would be nice to get some feed back off anyone who remembers these games!

Enjoy!

I will post disc 015 soon!

Now checked this disc on B-em v2.1a and all the games seem OK

What else are lazy weekends for!
I remembered the method from transferring Stardrifter for the Electron, it's a little involved to get the game working after it's been retrieved, but i managed the transfer without cheating by setting breakpoints :))
To keep it closer to the original tape, and safe me faffing with the code, i've left the encryption/decryption of the main file intact

Sorry to all B-em users for any errors in my games discs.
I have now downloaded B-em v2.1a and am currently checking all the software on my discs against both B-em and Beebem v4.13.

I have now checked Games Disc 011.
The only changes needed were:
1) ?&FE01=25 in the !Boot menu.
2) Bug in Manic Miner sorted so it works on Beebem and now B-em.

Here is the disc again. It should now work fine.

Sorry to all B-em users for any errors in my games discs.
I have now downloaded B-em v2.1a and am currently checking all the software on my discs against both B-em and Beebem v4.13.

From Games disc 015 onwards all discs will either work on both BeebEm or B-em or I will issue seperate discs for each emulator as we go.

Here is Games Disc 015.
This disc has been tested on BeebEm 4.13 and B-em v2.1a and all software seems to run fine on both emulators.

The goodies on this disc are.

Repton by Superior - Press P during the 2nd page of instructions to display the passwords for the game.
Also the Press Space Bar routine has been re-inserted and blank out screen routine to avoid displaying all the mess whilst downloading the game.

The sound on Paranoid Pete works every time now. ?&11=&E8 added to loader program.

Joysticks are required as well as the keyboard for Jump Jet by Anirog.

Electron Invaders by Micro Power are for the Electron but seem to work OK on the beeb - may have been called Alien Destroyers II at some point.

Ladder Maze has been amended so can load/save mazes to a blank disc.

Drain Mania has been amended and contains its full instructions.

Sim by Viper was a complete Bitch back in 1985 to hack onto disc as I could not get the keys to work after download. Here it is. Also done some poking to make the loader display speed up as this was on a timer for the cassette.

Enjoy!

I will try and post disc 016 asap.

I hope you enjoy it.

You will need to press CTRL+Break after playing The Red Arrows.

Alien Break-In features its loading tune and is also the BBC Micro Version (as the one in the STH archive was the Electron version).

Chip Buster features its loading screen (that got lost off most hacked disc copies).

Star Drifter is temparmental and may need a hard reset before playing (depending on what has been played before it).

Both Nifty Lifty and Wongo feature their loading tunes and these can be selected as each game is loaded.

It would be nice to get some feed back off anyone who remembers these games!

Enjoy!

I will post discs 017 soon!

I hope you enjoy it.

Repton 2 by Superior Software has had the advert for Speech removed and the Press Space Bar routine re-inserted and a blank out screen routine added whilst downloading the main game.

Side Fighter by David Hoskins is a disc copy. Not sure this was ever released commercially.

Stranded by Superior is a graphical/text adventure. You can save/load your position only to tape (hence the STT in the games menu).

Omega Probe by Optima was an awkward game to transfer to disc, but...
You can press Escape once the "S" starts to rise in the loader to skip it.

Wet Zone by Everiss features its original loading screen (after some pokery!). This game seems to be like Arcadia which was from Imagine on the Spectrum.
Tynesoft also released this for the Electron a few years later.
I think I remember reading somewhere that someone called Everiss worked for or founded Imagine (but not sure).

Tapper by U.S Gold was impossible to transfer to disc and this is my hybrid version and features the original loading screen and key definer.

Crypt Capers from Software Projects was originally called The Pyramid and I had a pirate copy before the proper released came out. Had to do some poking to bypass the card protection system. Did it BITD. Here is my new version. The code sequence has been removed and changed to the "Written by Michael Jacobsen" and "The Pharos game has loaded!" to clean things up.

Weetabix vs The Titchies by Romik was only originally available via a Weetabix promotion IIRC.

Gold Digger by Firebird had the usual tape protection. had to wait for a pirate copy BITD - not clever enough to crack it and didn't have time.

Citadel by Superior was quickly transferred to disc the day I brought it.

Enjoy.
PS It would be nice to get some feed back off anyone who remembers these games!

I will post discs 018 soon!

I hope you enjoy it.

Spy Hunter by US Gold is the Speech Version (during instructions anyway).

Lode Runner is a edit. Sadly you can only load the levels once during each game due to tape/download issues.
Also I noticed that on B-em the game kept starting once loaded but was ok on BeebEm. I checked the STH disc copy and it started as well!

Jeremy Goes Jumping is a little unreleased game by Superior that I remember from BITD. I am not sure but I think I remember a version that had ground drawn in like Rocket Raid, but I can't be sure - it was back in 1985.

Merry Xmas Santa by Icon was one of those titles that got re-issued later by Tynesoft with a slight name change. I have incuded the loader and tune. Press Escape at any time to skip it.

Drunken Dan was another unreleased title by Mat Newman (who had written Alien Swirl, Fortress and Space Hi-way and went on to write Ewgeebez).

Night Shade was probably the most protected title released on tape.
I never stood a chance of copying this, but seem to remember a hacked copy coming my way very quickly after its release BITD.
You will need to press CTRL+Break after playing it on B-em, but it breaks ok on BeebEm.

Android Attack was quiet a protected game on tape although I don't know why as it was nothing like Night Shade.

Fat Man Sam by Firebird was another one of their protected games. I actually had a pre-release copy of this on a disc before Firebird released it.

Tomahawk from Kansas was never released as far as I can remember but I do remember both this and Turbo (by the same author) doing the rounds BITD.

Lastly, Crawler is quiet a nice game. Not sure if it ever got released on tape but can remember it being on a Watford Demo/Utility disc BITD.

Enjoy.
PS It would be nice to get some feed back off anyone who remembers these games!

I will post discs 019 soon!

Q-boyd appears to be a pre-release of Blockbuster by Micro Power with slightly diferrent graphics an is a disc image version.

Acid Drops is another Firebird release. Not seen a tape image for this game yet!

Yie Are Kung-Fu was the only game protected by Kevin Edwards that I cracked, and that was simply because I had Exmon II running when the protected file tried to switch back to basic after loading in one of the last files allowing a *save of the memory to tape.

Panzer Attack was one of 4 games (actually 3 that were Arcade type) from a Micro User compilation called Classic Arcade Games. Disc image used as no tape image could be found.

Ewgeebez from Software Projects features it's key re-definer missing off some hacked versions).

Chrysalis from Icon (where to begin, firstly the name was spelt wrong in the loader - had to *save chunks of memory and then shift them around the re-spell the name and re-save it.
Then I discovered that neither the disc image or tape image would work on BeebEm. Did a ?&1C3E=&60 in filename CHRS2 to over come this.
This version works fine on both BeebEm and B-em.

Fruit Worm is another one of the 4 games from a compilation from Computer Concepts called Games Galore 1 - anyone seen vol. 2 (I never did!).

Crystal Castles from US Gold was originally released (well on a hacked disc anyway) by Atarisoft but it drew the screens much much slower.
This is the Limited Edition version and is much better, but not as good as Castles of Gems by MRM/Hopesoft.

The Way Of The Exploding Fist was a massgive game and highly protected. I managed to piece all the bits back together and here is my definative version.

Dodgems was one of games issued by Acornsoft on a compilation called Fun Games. I think this also popped up on another compilation by them called Arcade Action.

There is a right mixed bag of goodies on this disc.
I hope you enjoy it.

Enjoy.

I hope you enjoy it.

Flex is one of those good machine code games from the Micro User (more of those on later discs)

Stairway to Hell by Software Invasion was protected and came in 4 seperate parts. Press Cursor right to load the next 4 levels at the end of each game or press Cursor left to re-load the previous 4.

Frankenstein 2000 is the original version. Icon and then Atlantis did a re-mix a few years later.

Moon Cresta features its loading screen and an amended loading display.

The Horse Load was protected - strange as to why!

Bug Eyes II took some hacking but here it is.

Enjoy.
PS It would be nice to get some feed back off anyone who remembers these games!

I will post discs 021-030 on a new thread soon!
