Just arrived at Cedar Court. Sat in the bar (or actually in the dining bit, as there appear to be numerous people coughing/sneezing spluttering in the bar area presently!)

I'll be giving my jBip game it's first public outing (in workable form at least) tomorrow, alongside Tricky and dboddie's games.

Kit i've brought with me:
Elk with Plus 1 and UPURS
BBC B with datacentre
two 19" 1280x1024 monitors
a dv204 scaler/converter
Voltmace joysticks
PS2 pads (for use on a laptop with converter - jbip plays better on digital joystick but I dont have any for Beeb yet)
Matchbox copro - in the hope that some kind peeps can help me upload latest image to it
Main laptop - for coding if any interesting bugs are found in the game :)
Netbook - for hooking up to a monitor to display a rolling presentation about the RetroSoftware games being exhibited
Sheets with instructions /controls for the playing the games
Sheetmusic that was referenced to code the in game tune for jBip.

Looking forward to meeting everyone tonight and tomorrow :)
I'm going to ..
ABUG North Halifax June 10-12

Hi All,
Just getting my bits and bobs ready for tomorrow, and I can't find my Co-Pro
In fact, I can't remember seeing it since the last Halifax meet...
Did anyone find a mysterious 'spare' one at Halifax? [-o<

In the mean time, I will look through my sock drawer for the twentieth time

I am sad to say I dont have a bbc or acorn T-shirt. I do have a black raspberry pi one somewhere. Although people might mistake me for the RISC OS lot.

Oswrch is attending, and on my way! - should be arriving at Wakefield station just after 9pm This eve (Fri) - anyone else on same train?

All being well, should be joining you in the Cedar Court bar shortly! Only one from the Ipswich posse attending this year, so acting as courier for co-pro goods to Mr. Moore!

I should be there tomorrow between 10-11 (maybe) after a nice leisurely 4 hour drive.

The car is loaded ready to go. Should be there to set up at about 8:00am. Only a 30 minute journey. :D

See you all tomorrow.

I have packed xilinx programmer and kryoflux plus drives. And some proper solder. And a few header pins. Etc.

I shall get the first shuttle from the station in the morning. Early start here - train takes much longer than the drive!

 found out the disc drive wasn't working in Zarchos' A310 he's bringing... So we carefully swapped it for the drive from my A310, then switched on and tried it..
Only to see it started smoking from the drive pcb!!!

Needless to say the drive didn't work when returned to my A310. :(

So unless I can rustle something up from the spares in the loft before 5am, we may be an Arm2 computer down for our display.

Have arrived in car park. Time for asleep. Getting up at 5am on a Saturday is not agreeable with my body.

I was thinking that you might be able to pick something up from the charity stall but I see that they say, "No non-RISC OS computer base units, or older RISC OS units" now. #-o Still, maybe they'll have some spare floppy drives.

Unfortunately, a fractured toe has prevented me from attending. I had hoped the pain would have reduced sufficiently to allow me to drive to Wakefield today but it hasn't improved enough :(

Hope you all have a great day.

Here is the "simulator" game for those that aren't here to play it. You will need a paddle or you can use the analogue mouse in beebem.
This is the actual arcade game with the bbc simulating the hardware ;)
5 inserts coins, 1,2 player starts.
Sorry, it has the wrong tunes!

EDIT: I should add, that this game includes the original arcade ROMs, these were made freely available for non-commercial use by H.R. Kaufmann, president of Exidy. see http://mamedev.org/roms/circus/ for more details.

Had a fantastic time, was great to see everyone again and talk 6502 assembler! (As you can tell, I was mostly with the 8-bit crowd!)

Sorry I had to dash off for station shuttle bus directly after the show ended, one of the downsides of travelling to the show by train... As a result, wasn't able to say hi to everyone properly, or help to pack up, but hope y'all managed to find & pack all the kit you brought along!

Thanks to those who produced some excellent games to debut at the show - big shout-out to jbnbeeb & tricky who produced some very playable new games that were enjoyed (& heard!) by many show attenders! Also excellent conversations with the above, crowly & Danielj, along with several newer members of the 8-bit community - always makes a visit to Wakefield very enjoyable!

Excellent show folks - see you again next year (or maybe Halifax in Nov, assuming John's new arrival is 'in routine' by then & interrupts are reasonably maskable!)

Cheers,
Mark R

Got some useful work done! I thought I had HADFS working around various problems with all various odd versions of DFS, but I was able to do some quick testing on a real hardware Electron.

It turns out that ACP DFS 2.20 exhibits the same bugs as Acorn DFS 0.90 as it gave the same symptoms, and by manually setting a flag in HADFS's workspace to tell it to behave as though is was running with DFS 0.90 the problems disappeared. Something to add to the remaining bugs list.

I'd tested HADFS with an emulated Electron, but checking my Emulators directory on my WinPC just now I can't find anything that does Electron emulation. I can't remember what I used, and where it's gone.

Hmmm. I've just tested HADFS 6.00 with ACP DFS 2.20 on Elkulator, and it works perfectly, just as it did when testing four years ago. Weird. What was going on with the real hardware?

Got home half an hour ago to find a parcel arrived this morning contains the following:
20150425_200611.jpg

As usual a great time was had by all with some great games on show from tricky and jbnbeeb. It was great to finally meet zarchos who supplied some of the best cakes I've ever eaten, and if you've met me you'll know I've had more than my fair share of cake! A great performance from James on Thrust and Chuckie egg. He almost beat the high score from season 1,round 2 of the high score challenge and did beat the Thrust high score.

There was a bit of a crowd watching in awe at his Thrust skills. Hopefully he'll be joining the forums soon.

I just got home myself. Had a great time. Good to meet people in the flesh.

I +1 for a future Bletchley park (half the distance) and a +2 (even nearer and good facilities for wife) for Cambridge.

Now to read all those books I bought on the ABUG stand, or possibly start soldering Dave's Electron kits I bought.

Edit: I had Technic lego with Beeb controller waiting for me when I got home.
