Thanks. I was down to one base for a lot of the time (until the extra one popped (very briefly!) at the 10K incremental marks). In the end it just gets too fast. Trying to deal with multiple warheads and the loss of missile bases doesn't help either!

Just had a single go, got to exactly 10,000 when all my bases and bullets were destroyed and then managed to kill a few things with my bonus city.

yeah I could play games for hours even days when I was young but now I dont know , just cant seem to do it

The mouse does seem to help a lot!
I'm a bit lost for tactics after level 20...

How do you configure your mouse as a joystick? When I just press the option joystick, nothing works and when I press either analogue or digital mousestick only the fire button works (and then only the central missile base).

Until now I didn't even realize this option existed.

I tried the joystick option at first but I think that's for a real joystick. I'm using Options/Analogue Mousestick but I think digital works too.

The mousestick cursor tracks at a distance away from the actual mouse cursor so you need to use the option Hide Cursor if you want to stay sane. The only problem seems to be if the hidden mouse cursor is out of the BeebEm window when you click, then it takes you out of BeebEm until you click back in which is a bit disconcerting.

It makes the game so much simpler because a click will fire from the nearest ammunition supply that isn't empty.

I'm mostly okay without using Hide Cursor, but get confused often enough it's a problem. Tried with the option this time, but there was still a flickery pointer sometimes showing.

Mouse score: 37540. (actually using trackpad)
My keyboard score today (8320) didn't beat my previous try. I did notice it was easier than the trackpad for shooting lots of shots though, maybe because I used a separate hand for firing than for moving, maybe because clicking on the trackpad stopped me moving. Next time I might try a real mouse, or using a second hand on the trackpad to shoot.

I think you can use the mouse to move and keyboard to fire of you want to choose which base to fire from although, it isn't as important as on the arcade game.

High Score Tables Updated for Season 18, Round One......

An old classic that many cut their teeth on would be my guess on this game. Many styles of mouse/trackball/joysticks were tried with this with mouse seeming to be the most 'stable'.

Well, the winner of this game is again Venger. He came close to 100k but that would have been absolutely nuts to achieve. Nice going and congratulations Venger on another great win this round.

On a side note I'd like to thank all those who played this round. We had 13 playing this game this round so.....Thank you!!! It seems we are mostly averaging out at 11 so this participation is above average.

As usual please check to ensure I've not missed anyone's scores as I've been busy and it's easy to miss things on this and I really don't want to do that for anyone's hard earned score.

Sorry LoveBug, been dealing with a little high blood pressure and it makes ones head fuzzy. Folks, please check and make sure I didn't miss anyone else. I would hate to have to fix 10 rounds of play for something I missed early on.
